Nebraska QB Broke Fibula

Could have big bowl implications for Gophers. Would have expected them to finish with a similar record and been in the mix for some of the same bowls as us. Not sure how good their backup is but UCLA and PSU could be tough outs on the road with a backup. Would be shocked if they beat Iowa.
Illinois has a soft schedule so we have quite a few big 10 teams likely to push our bowl game down a few spots. Even if Nebraska struggles.

Doesn't sound like it was a compound fracture or anything... Railoa wanted to go back in but couldn't run. Maybe more of a hairline fracture type situation? Still hate to see guys get hurt no matter the severity.

I remember stories about Lombardi from Jerry Kramer's book. The players called hm the "Great Healer." I guess that he had no empathy for broken fibulas, "that bone doesn't support weight!" IIRC it was Lionel Aldridge who broke his fibula and Lombardi had him jogging at practice 12 days later. For a lot of injuries I think that those guys were shot-up with a painkiller and they were back out there.

Going into the USC game, Raiola was tied with AK for being the most sacked (27) in the BG10. His risk of injury was pretty high, unfortunately. AK pulled away with one more sack (29) with Raiola getting hurt (28).

No intent…weak attempt at levity... I just feel the excessive adoration has not been earned.
It's not just Raiola. It seems that every announcer is channeling the late Harry Caray with the over-the-top superlatives and/or histrionics on just about every play. A few years ago, I figured out that the entire sports universe and jockocracy had turned into professional wrestling.

Or Jerry not remembering the plays during the game. They did not have concussions in those days.

Maybe that's Paul Allen's destiny.

Does anyone know who Nebraska's backup QB is, and how much experience he has?
I’m sure Google will give you a good answer, but I watched most of their game. The backup was a redshirt Frosh, I believe. Sleight build, looked very uncomfortable, REALLY wanted to run it (and did). Wasn’t afraid to push it down the field a couple times with 1:1 matchups but didn’t complete any of those. They didn’t throw it much with him. All that said, I’m sure getting thrust into a huge night game unexpectedly without many practice reps is a tough situation, so I have no idea how good the kid is.

Chuckie baby! Chuck baby! I hear you bought a new boat. I heard you got a small dinghy.
That was GREAT TV:)

And everyone's favorite -

Gene was a stagehand and Berris did it as a gag, well before Larry Bud Melman or Guillermo rose to fame. An article I read said that for several years after it was canceled pages would still introduce tours to Gene because of his enduring popularity.

He's a true freshman.

He’s a true freshman 4 star from Orange Lutheran in Los Angeles, TJ Lateef
He was 5-7 for 7 yards against usc after baby mahomes got injured. Them stats show the kids got decent accuracy on really short throws…

Fibula was crushed from above by the constant weight of all of the ass kissing laid on him by the TV crews.
Although tasteless, I did laugh. 😂 Do better - or I’ll be forced to laugh and judge myself. 😂😂
