Shooter: Perich’s $250,000 name, image and likeness (NIL) deal this season should at least double for the Gophers football star’s sophomore season.

Sure, the rules (or guidelines or laws) could change over time and then who knows what will happen. If the players become actual employees of the University, then I'd guess the same disclosure requirements will apply to them as other University employees with outside income. The original...

Aireontae Ersery Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the year.

I don't think that they have announced anything. I was at the game, so I don't know what they said on the broadcast. It appeared to be lower leg. There was a play at the end of a series where someone landed or rolled onto his leg while he was engaged in a block. He limped off and they...

As to money from the school directly? Yes, that might be disclosed. But the question wasn't related to that, it was about NIL. Regarding how much he makes from signing posters at the opening of a new sporting goods store in Esko? Why should he have to disclose that to the public?

All Things 2024-25 College Football Coach Fired/Hired/Retired Thread

Happy for him, but that seems like a tough job. How long before Schiano tries to hire Corey Hetherman?

Probably nowhere, just like it is for everyone else. He and his agents know. His tax guy knows and the IRS will know what those people tell them. Who else has a right to know?

Aireontae Ersery Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the year.

Congratulations to Aireontae, quite an accomplishment! Credit to Coach Fleck and the staff for identifying a kid who hadn't played much football, signing, developing and keeping him. I recall PJ saying something along the lines of "he'll be one of the best to ever play here by the time he's...

2024-25 Gophers Football Transfer Portal Thread

He told the Wisconsin media that he would consider the option of playing baseball in addition to football at a new school (he's apparently a lefty who touches 90 on his fastball) and Minnesota has shown a willingness to allow that. It sounds like Wisconsin saw him more as a safety going forward...

Should Minnesota vs Wisconsin stay on Black Friday

I haven't seen any announcement of when it will be released. The 2024 schedule was released in early November 2023, so we are already about 30 days later than last year.

Should Minnesota vs Wisconsin stay on Black Friday

I was responding to your comment that "The Gopher student section would have been a ghost-town for that game yesterday. . ." Whether you intended that as hate or not, I think that you are wrong. I base that opinion on the history of there being plenty of students there on Thanksgiving weekend...

Nice article on Max and Jim Shikenjanski

Sad news. Rebecca Shikenjanski passed away on Saturday. Best wishes to Jim, Max and the rest of the family.

Should Minnesota vs Wisconsin stay on Black Friday

Not sure when you last attended a game at the Bank, but the student section the past few years has been awesome. That absolutely includes the Thanksgiving weekend games. Love up the Badger students all you want, but you are off base on the Gopher students.

Should Minnesota vs Wisconsin stay on Black Friday

My perspective is based on attending the home games every year and getting to Madison as often as possible. I initially hated the idea, but it ended up working great for purposes of traveling to the game. Left Thursday night after Thanksgiving dinner and was able to get a nice hotel room for...

Proud of MN and WI players and fans

I concur. After chopping the goal post on the Fieldhouse end, the Gopher players ran down to the student section end while the UW band was waiting for their Fifth Quarter performance. I thought that might cause some issues, but there were none that I saw and I was impressed that the band...

    Madison rollcall

I'll be there. Group of six heading out after Thanksgiving dinner. High temperature forecast keeps going lower and lower. Guessing the Camp will be about 2/3 full.

UMass decides to not honor individual seniors on senior day

Strange. I don't know how many people it is, but if they think that it is too many for a pregame ceremony, have it afterwards.

    Badgers fire their OC

Isn't the speculation that it wasn't his decision? That Bruininks was so appalled by the game and the aftermath that he demanded the firing and that's why Maturi was caught so flatfooted? He was left to start a coaching search in January for a middling Big Ten program with limited resources and...

Tim Brewster will be the new head coach at Charlotte

Link to his initial press conference below. I always hoped he would get another opportunity at a spot better suited to his skills and limitations (not intended as a set up for a punchline) where he could use what he learned from his failures here. Never should have been given his first college...
