Sources: Big Ten, SEC to talk possible scheduling partnership

My dream is something along this lines. I would love to see the SEC and Big Ten to grow to whatever the magic number is 18 - 20 - 24... Break the Big Ten and SEC into divisions and then have a neutral scheduling committee create the schedules. Year 1 - Big Ten East plays the SEC East Year 2 -...

    Band Travel?

I could be wrong and I am sure that the fans that go will have a great time. The stadium itself is not very nice but obviously holds a mystique. I’m expecting the stadium to be 1/3 to 1/2 full for the game.

    Band Travel?

I agree. I’ve been to the Rose Bowl when I was on a vacation to the LA area. Didn’t see a game there but did see the stadium. I think fans are going to be underwhelmed. The Rose Bowl doesn’t have the magic or pageantry when it isn’t January 1. Read an article last fall that it actually has one...

Gophers ICED OUT uniforms against Michigan

I think pretty much every school - high school and college - around has adopted black as an unofficial school color. They may not have black jerseys but have sweatshirts, t-shirts, that are black.

Gophers ICED OUT uniforms against Michigan

100% I remember a team we played in high school wore silver pants at home and blue pants on the road and thinking "wow, that is awesome."

Gophers ICED OUT uniforms against Michigan

There are two things that I always thought 'back in the day' when I played - "If you look good, you feel good. If you feel good, you play good." I don't get into the multiple uniform combinations but I don't hate it also. Side note, my son is 8 years old. He asks me every Wednesday or Thursday...

    Be honest!!!

That is a tough one to explain. It seems like every time we played Wisconsin and now Illinois the teams are exactly the same... tough football players who play hard. If I would have to explain Arkansas, I think it would be his teams just weren't good enough to compete with Alabama, LSU, Auburn...

    Be honest!!!

I'd take him in a second. He can flat out coach football.

Lots of negativity on this board for a team that should be 3-1

I think the negativity comes from we should be 4-0 - easily could have made two field goals against NC and if we match our first half we win vs. Iowa. But instead of that flashy 4-0 win with a trophy game included, we are 2-2 having lost to both our P5 opponents.

It appears an undefeated college football team ranked in the top 30 of the AP Poll just lost its starting quarterback ... because of an NIL dispute.

Absolutely - Get a salary cap, come down hard and punish 'illegal money' - essentially NIL. Make it a step further. Free transfer after your second season and after you graduate. It is sad, but once you are at a school there should be at least a 2 year commitment. How do. you even build a...

Underpaying Coaches - Is this our top problem?

I honestly don't know what our problem is but I do think you need to start at the top and the top is the university as a whole. Football is a bit of a different beast but if you look at basketball there is absolutely zero reason we aren't one of the best programs in the Big Ten, if not the...

2024 MN High School Football thread

Dang, I coached vs Tim for a few years. Great guy. His son was a heck of a player for them as well. Is there a caring bridge or anything?

    Perich at safety

He didn’t play any series, but seems like he was in on most 3rd downs and medium-to-long yardage situation. I agree with you I wish he would play more but also think they are easing him in. He was a bit behind not having spring ball and dealing with his hamstring issue.

What grade would you give the Gophers coaching in the loss to Iowa?

I’m not ready to fire PJ, but getting close. I would go back 15-20 years… firing Mason wasn’t the wrong decision, hiring Brewster was the wrong decision. There are a lot of good coaches out there. At the end of the day if your school is in the Big Ten or SEC you are automatically one of the...

    After 25 years… I’m out

You have to chill out. At the end of the day, after all the BS of how bad we played, I was able to take my 8 year old to the game on a beautiful Saturday night, tailgate with friends and family, etc. once you realize the sun is coming up tomorrow, it was a good night. With that being said, PJ...

Yahoo Sports: Always Rivalry Week: Iowa, Minnesota, and one of college football’s great trophies

I love this. As much as I am not a fan Ferentz he knows how to win and coach his team. It feels like every year they are a better team in November than they are in September.

This Iowa game is a BFG

This is actually a perfect recap of the Minnesota/Iowa rivalry. Hope his score is wrong - but both teams HATE beating each other and will try nearly everything to lose the game. Lots of fluke plays in the past - best running back in recent school history having a career game and fumbles in the...

Fantastic column from Chip: Football Across Minnesota: Chip Lohmiller, our most-famous kicker, now plays quarterback

It always surprises me that people live normal lives after they hang up their helmet. Reminds me of being a kid and seeing your teacher at the grocery store... like a "you live a normal life too?" moment. Would be fun to have some alumni recognized every game. There is enough of them...

Fleck doesn't think last year's fair catch fiasco adds any juice to Iowa showdown

I don't think he was comparing North Carolina to Iowa. I think he was comparing the Iowa 2024 game vs. the Iowa 2023 game, etc. I think just the fact that it is Iowa vs. Minnesota, Floyd of Rosedale, National TV, etc adds all the juice you need. The whole return and invalid fair catch call is a...
