    B1G Match 2: Gophers Host Purdue (9-28-24)

More like one forward and one back. Story of the season.

    Olivia Swenson

I'm not sure Olivia and Sydney will be be here next year. They could easily opt to transfer somewhere where they will play more.

Match 4: Gophers v TCU (at Baylor) (9-10-24)

I think Thibault, by far, has been their best passer, and Pilabyik has been fine (except for the Stanford match). The problems -- passing and defense -- are elsewhere. They are a #20-30 team, at best. We may as well face it and support their efforts to improve. It's too bad, given how...

Match 1: Gophers v Stanford in Milwaukee (9-1-24)

I take back my take back. They just have too many weaknesses and they are trying too many things that just do not work. Unfortunately I don't see how it can be fixed. They could burn Stella's redshirt I guess but I'm not sure if that's going to help.

Match 1: Gophers v Stanford in Milwaukee (9-1-24)

Well, I take it back. Most of it anyhow. Not the serving specialist part or the need to take better swings. But they passed great against Texas, except for g4. Great bounce back for both Z and Wookie. Intentionally posting in this thread.

Match 1: Gophers v Stanford in Milwaukee (9-1-24)

Very disappointing. Stanford was not good and the Gophers still found a way to lose. And I am so tired of serving specialists who cannot serve in, let alone well. I would guess serving will get much better. I don't know about passing. And MW needs to swing away like Julia. If not, I'm not sure...

Stella Swenson in the Gopher Spotlight

"Single word." Way to create a strawman. And maybe the problem is that we can be way too big of jerks to male athletes, too, not that it is somehow "sexist" to expect people to be decent human beings. "Plays like trash" is such a perfect example. Anyhow, just don't be surprised when YOU are...

Heaven forbid that one would choose not to malign athletes online. But you do you.

Stella Swenson in the Gopher Spotlight

Just going to highlight this: GS: Is there anything that makes you nervous about starting your college career? SS: That's a good question. I'd say just that people can be very negative. I'm a confident person, I know what I can do and do not let anyone affect me. But people online just say...

Doogie Interviews Keegan Cook on the Start of Spring Practice

It works until you hit a dry spell with in-state talent. But I would think they could always be competitive. There is also an inherent danger in hitching your wagon to transfers. And that’s when the horses don’t get along. I’d also argue that players constantly on the lookout for greener...

    Gopher Spotlight: Olivia Swenson

Pins might suit you better if you are limiting OHs to the left side. This isn’t a controversial take; the middle is where the opportunities exist.

    Gopher Spotlight: Olivia Swenson

“I’m more humble.” Gotta love the irony. Sure would be cool if Olivia blossoms as a Gopher. Such a tough lineup for an OH to crack.

    Dumb volleyball questions …

Again, where do you draw the line (and slow motion helps how)? I think if you wouldn’t allow it as a contact between teammates, why is it OK to do it as a contact to the opponents’ side? Here’s one: why don’t more teams set a higher ball to the middle?

    Dumb volleyball questions …

Every sport with rules subject to interpretation — fouls in basketball, holding in football, double contacts or catches in volleyball for example — are inherently asking for trouble. In and out in volleyball, out of bounds in football, safe or out in baseball, for example, are much easier to...

… you have been too embarrassed to ask (credit VolleyTalk). I’ll start. Can we call them liberi now that there are two?

NCAA VB Rules Committee Recommended Changes 2024

It would be nice to see the actual rule. I’ve seen it used in JOs but I have no idea if it will be the same.

Right. Let’s all be like Mpls and focus on badmouthing the players and staff. Like real fans.
