All Things 2024 Gophers Basketball Recruiting Thread - Videos, Tweets, Articles, Rumors, Analysis and More

Perry is another SoCal recruit. I have seen him in some Top 100 lists. Johnson and company are continuing to look for talent in future B1G territory. "It's a bold strategy,Cotton. Let's see if it pays off for him."

    Gopher Volleyball 2022 Season

I'll check back with you in a few years to see where the Gophers are. The chances are far more likely that the Gophers will become a middling B1G team under a new coach than a national championship contender. They are clearly considered a top ten program now. I see many more paths that lead...

Nice to see OJ! This is so much worse than the Chicago Bears' Super Bowl Shuffle!

Player & Team Grades after 4 games

Good analysis. With so many new players who are just getting their feet wet with D-1 ball, I hope that you reassess after 10-12 games after they get a chance to acclimate. This will be even more important as we've been missing an All B1G player in Battle. Carrington not being available for 2/4...

***OFFICIAL CENTRAL MICHIGAN AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

I noticed strong evidence that this staff can coach based on their ability to get a bunch of mid major or lower players to play as a team and go undefeated in non-conference, upset Michigan in Crisler, and hang tough with teams like Michigan State that have historically knocked the snot out of us.

***OFFICIAL CENTRAL MICHIGAN AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Not a fan of playing 5 players again like last season. Ola Joseph and Henley were bright spots in the first couple of games. Henley, in particular, seems to be one of the few players on this squad who has the speed and handles to drive to the basket. One never assesses first year players based...

***OFFICIAL CENTRAL MICHIGAN AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Thompson got exactly the playing time he deserved last year. Had the coaching staff let him embarrass himself further, he might have quit the sport.

***OFFICIAL CENTRAL MICHIGAN AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

In the first two games, I'd argue that Henley seemed like one of the quickest MN players AND seemed very comfortable and successful putting the ball on the court and driving to the basket. The up and down play tells me that he is likely overthinking the game. We'll see whether things have slowed...

Game 3: Gophers at NDSU (11-17-22)

Hoops is extremely knowledgeable but has never been a fan of the Whalen coaching experiment. I have given a little longer leash to see if the experiment is a success before moving on to some 'flavor of the day' coach who may or may not be an improvement. It is literally a roll of the dice every...

***OFFICIAL CENTRAL MICHIGAN AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Ramberg is showing the effort and hustle that every other player needs to emulate. He had 7 boards tonight- tying Garcia for the team lead in less minutes. Unfortunately, Will is just not talented enough to play this many minutes. He will be a great body to bring in off the bench to spell a...

***OFFICIAL CENTRAL MICHIGAN AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

I really liked how Ben spread around the minutes tonight. He gave everyone a lot of run. Samuels had the least with 10 minutes. Garcia and Cooper were the high minute players with 33 and 32 respectively. Great opportunity to try some different combinations against an inferior opponent...

Game 3: Gophers at NDSU (11-17-22)

It's the start of the fifth year. The vaunted top 10 rated class is just getting started. The most ready of the frosh and one of the leading scorers in the nation is unexpectedly unavailable. If Whalen fails to produce within the next two years, I can certainly see a change being made. Whalen...

Game 3: Gophers at NDSU (11-17-22)

Hoops- Did the coaching staff mess up Braun's ankle? Did the coaching staff miss 9 FTs? Did the coaching staff get out-rebounded? Did the coaching staff ask Katie B. to shoot 5-17 (1-7)? The coaches certainly have some responsibility because they recruited the players but, at some point, the...

***OFFICIAL CENTRAL MICHIGAN AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

No one expected them to lose to DePaul. No one is expecting them to lose tonight to C. Mich. But losses happen all of the time and can happen to the best of teams. There have been head scratchers among the Top 25 already in this young season. No one said that we are tanking Years 1-4 to focus...

***OFFICIAL DEPAUL AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

BB- Welcome back! I have really missed our exchanges! Thrown to the wolves means having to step into big minutes that was not expected of them from day one. It doesn't matter who they are playing. D-1 will always be a step up from high school hero ball and it can take some time to adjust. I...

***OFFICIAL DEPAUL AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

It's one game early in the season with a bunch of inexperienced first year players getting major minutes. Everyone was railing on Johnson for not playing younger players like Thompson and Thiam last year. The a55 kicking by DePaul is what you get when boys who think they know what they are doing...

STrib: McCutcheion's New Book May Give Insight into Job Change

McCutcheon isn't saying that winning isn't important. He is obviously extremely competitive and has been uber successful. He is likely saying that the most important competition is within ourselves and our team. If you've done everything possible as a person and team to bring out your best...

***OFFICIAL DEPAUL AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Johnson wants their identity to be "a blue collar team that is gritty and fights." Last night was the first time that I didn't see that under his watch. I knew that there would be growing pains with the youngsters. It's one game but I didn't expect the whole team to be so flat. Sometimes it...
