Minnesota native Lu’Cye Patterson commits to the Gophers

Odukale's going to play waaaay more than 15 mins a game. Fox should play more than 13 mins. Edmonds is probably too high at 22 mins a game. Unlikely Williams gets 6 mins a game, unless there are serious injury issues.

    Returning Playas for 2024-25

Your points are valid. Even if we get Patterson, I'm not very optimistic about our roster. It looks like we'd need a miracle to be as good as we were last season. That said, here we are. Hope's all I've got.

Is the 24-25 roster our version of 'Moneyball'?

After the season. He entered the portal, didn't find any interest, came back to meet with CBJ about returning, and was told "No, thanks". Someone gave Carrington very bad advice, and he's still looking for a new team.

Is the 24-25 roster our version of 'Moneyball'?

    - I stand corrected, it wasn't 500k. I believe that's what Payne's getting at A & M? I'll own that mistake. - JoJ is still getting what is believed to be six figures this season from Cal, and Cal absolutely has lot's of NIL money. I'm lifting a quote from Ryan James here.: "Although...

Is the 24-25 roster our version of 'Moneyball'?

Following Announcement of Move to ACC, Cal's NIL Program Raises $1.2M in 4 days

Is the 24-25 roster our version of 'Moneyball'?

Ryan James says it's around 500k. He says Cal has lot's of money & overpaid, but that's what JoJ got. Kind of a separate issue from JoJ's rumored pay day, but many fans on this board are under the false assumption that JoJ didn't play more down the stretch because he wasn't playing well. It...

Is the 24-25 roster our version of 'Moneyball'?

Ryan James says JoJ got somewhere around 500k from Cal. No way could we match that. * Edit: Leaving this post up, but acknowledging I made a mistake. JoJ is getting six figures this season at Cal, but not 500k.

Is the 24-25 roster our version of 'Moneyball'?

Is the 2024-2025 roster our version of 'Moneyball'? i.e. We can't afford to replace players like Christie, Payne, Hawkins & JoJ, but we can try to replace their production in the aggregate with multiple, lower priced players?

    Returning Playas for 2024-25

I see your point, but maybe BGA1 is onto to something here? It's a whole new, uncharted landscape in college basketball now. Last year CBJ couldn't go deeper into his bench because half the underclassmen were throwing tantrums, walking away from the team, and threatening to transfer if they...

Trey Edmonds commits to MN per On3

The value of prep players has really fallen off in the era of unlimited portal transfers & Covid years. What value is there to bringing in a Freshman other than the handful of immediate impact Freshmen that exist? If they don't play right away, they leave. If they play well right away, they...

    Returning Playas for 2024-25

I appreciate your optimism, in regards to us becoming a grinding, defensive team. The one thing I'd take issue with here is that Mike Mitchell is no bulldog. He was arguably our worst defender last season (It may have been Christie). He got marginally better toward the end of the season going...

Trey Edmonds commits to MN per On3

    - Williams also scored 5 pts against St Mary's of Mpls, and 6 pts against St Olaf. The real Caleb Williams lies somewhere between those crappy performances, against crappy opponents, and his out-of-his-mind performance against the Gophers. I don't believe he was brought in to be part of the...

Trey Edmonds commits to MN per On3

Williams is a deep bench piece who's unlikely to play much, less still at crunch time.

Trey Edmonds commits to MN per On3

Good addition considering our budget. We needed a big who could play some minutes off the bench, and Edmonds fills that role.

    Femi Odukale commits

Odukale is a good pick up. He's fills the top need we had going into the off season of a hard nosed, defensive wing, and also is an experienced starter at the wing if Christie leaves (which is almost a certainty).

    Gopher Potential Portal Pursuits

Corporations are already throwing far more money at things that have nothing to do with the bottom line like BLM, National Parks, etc. etc.

Caleb Williams commits to the Gophers

You nailed it. Williams will be at the end of the bench. He can shoot a bit, and will be a good practice player. We need a few guys content to not play much, who don't need NIL money. Williams is that. He gets to stay close to Mac, and continue his education for free. Everyone wins.

    Gopher Potential Portal Pursuits

Comparing us to Michigan is apples to oranges. As much as I'm frustrated with CBJ losing so many players, I think your last sentence is the most important part of your post & don't see anyone succeeding here until that part is fixed.
