Shooter: A little birdie says Nolan Groves is getting $300,000 to join the Gophers from Texas Tech for his sophomore season.

$125k for Texas Tech, now $300k for Gophers, off to a good start. I'm optimistic he can contribute well this season and get some time in the starting lineup.

Well, that's certainly reasonable if true. If the budget for basketball NIL is 5 to 7 million as advertised, the average pay of your top 9 would be at least 500k. I would think Groves can be a rotation guy so 300K for someone that is 7th-9th guy is about right.

Yeah, this is probably one of those times when Shooter actually has good information.....I mean I'm sure it happens from time to time.....

I remember the years that I actually paid to attend the U. 🧑🏼‍🎓

IDK... Nolan Groves was the first guy to sign...does he commit for $300,000 not knowing who else is on the team just because he's homesick? Wisconsin was reportedly recruiting him hard as well.
Is $300k enough to end your recruiting and be the first guy to sign for the the Gophers after he chose Texas Tech the year before as widely reported because they offered him more money? Timeline logic and the small amount says the number is too low.

With respect to Nolan going from $125k to $300k with his limited production is like getting fired from your middle management 85k job and then getting a director job. Groves has potential but I doubt it was going to get any better for him considering his limited production. It might end up being a steal, I think he will be a key nine man member of the rotation but at this stage it's kind of a no brainer for him

Perhaps money wasn't the top factor. Maybe he had a dollar amount in mind and as long as the offer was within that range, he'd commit to where he felt it was best.

I would think playing time has to be a big factor. He’ll get that here as we don’t have big money to get better players than him.
