All Things TV Series Recommendations/Reviews

Anyone else watch E1 of "Paradise" on FX with Sterling K. Brown and James Marsden? I'm hooked after one (1) episode. Even the music was great.
I finally started watching this. A few episodes in, I’m hooked as well. Very good.

It is very good. The second season is equally as good, although I feel the timeline is moving a little too quickly. Also don't like that the whole season wasn't out as I've had to wait a week for each new episodes to drop from 4 through 8

I'm with you on that. I tend to binge watch a little on shows I really like so I always end up waiting until all the episodes are available.

I’m the same way

Me and the Mrs typically ONLY watch shows together on the weekend and we'll typically knock out an entire series season between Fri night and Sat night. I'm not waiting another week for another episode to drop.

I finished season 1. Episode 7 might be one of the best episodes I've seen of any show. So good.

Season Two of 'The Pitt' was just as good, if not better, than the first season. Going to win all the awards again.

We just finished the first season of Your Honor, it was outstanding. I can't wait to start Season 2, which I believe is all the series has.

Bryan Cranston is an amazing actor. I can't recommend this series enough. Very well done.

Go Your Honor!!
I'm just finishing up season 1. The show is leaving Netflix after May 31 so will have to binge watch the second season.

Finished up the 2nd season of Lioness. Geeze that was a good series. Tons of action, particularly the last couple episodes of season 2
(Of course Taylor Sheridan is involved. That dude ever sleep?)

We finally decided to put Lioness at the top of the queue and get into it. Two of the first 3 seasons complete, I'm very happy with how it has gone for the most part. Pretty damn good show, might end up plowing through the 3rd season this weekend.

I recommend it

Watched The Punisher: One Last Kill. Is that it? 51 minutes? Nothing more? Strange.
It's a one-off. Jon Bernthal as the Punisher will appear in the Spiderman: Brand New Day movie later this summer. This special was supposedly a vehicle to explain what he'd been up to as he wasn't in Daredevil: Born Again, Season 2 as well as provide a little backstory as to his motivation moving forward.

I like the character and actor but thought One Last Kill was just ok. I think the character works better either playing off others or when he's extremely motivated by revenge or fighting his way out.

Yeah, was disappointed. Thought the series was really good and guess my expectations were up because of that. Also didn't realize it was meant to be just a glimpse of what was going on.

Did just wrap up watching The Boys and really liked the ending.

Okay, I'm not too proud to accept help and advice and support here.

Perhaps like many (?), I have a growing list of what many have said are GREAT series that I have in my queue but have not started simply because with multiple seasons (sometimes MANY multiple seasons), it's just too daunting to finally just pull the trigger and start watching.

I'll take votes for the following;

- Yellowstone (or any of the subseries I guess)
- Sons of Anarchy
- Band of Brothers
- Deadwood (going a ways back here)
- Mad Men (only including because Slim said I had to watch it)
- Landman (only a few seasons so far but it's growing and I haven't started it)

If I haven't listed it here, there's a 95% chance I've either seen it or I simply have no interest in seeing it (Game of Thrones for example).

Not a bad choice in the bunch but there is ZERO doubt in my mind that you'll have Mad Men at the top after watching all of them. Jon Hamm is tremendous but the entire cast ensemble is incredible, similar to The Wire. Don Draper edges out Andy Sipowicz from NYPD Blue as my favorite character.

I'd rank them:

1a. Mad Men
1b. SOA
3. Yellowstone (Seasons 4 & 5 are duds except for Jimmy's character)
4. Deadwood (huge Timothy Olyphant fan)
5. BOB

I would also suggest The Shield. If you're not hooked after S1E1 then it's probably not for you and you invested very little time.

Band of Brothers, Mad Men and Deadwood are 100% worth watching. Mad Men is great. SOA was very good in the earlier seasons and faded a bit towards the end.....but I enjoyed it. Yellowstone I had no interest in and Landman was worth watching for BBT.....but both of those shows are overly melodramatic. I suppose you could say the same about SOA (which....funny enough....Taylor Sheriden was an actor in before becoming a showrunner).

I'll continue to bring it up because it deserves to be mentioned.....Halt and Catch Fire does not get nearly enough love. Only four seasons and the first is the worst (but still very good) of the bunch since Lee Pace's character starts off as kind of a pale Don Draper imitation. It's one of the few shows (not counting random sitcom episodes) that I feel the impulse to rewatch every one to two years. Definitely helps if you're into techy (dorky) stuff.

I did watch this in the beginning. It was so damn long ago I can't remember if I watched just Season 1, or 2 and 3 with it, etc. But I remembered I did like it, mostly for the characters (the two primary characters anyway)

Worth watching all four seasons.

Band of Brothers is as good as it gets IMO. And it’s only 10 episodes so pretty easy to get through the series.

Deadwood is awesome. I liked Yellowstone seasons 1-3 and thought it really fell off after that. I liked 1883 and 1923 better.

I really liked Landman season 1 but thought season 2 was a disjointed soap opera.

I just started Mad Men and haven't seen SOA or Band of Brothers yet. Another show I'm going to rewatch because I never finished it originally is Boardwalk Empire.

Band of Brothers is spectacular as well as low hanging fruit. I've knocked that out over a weekend..."Easy".

I would also make sure to watch the hour long follow-up "making of" show in which they interviewed surviving members of the troup. That's about as an emotional hour of TV viewing I have ever experienced.

My father was perhaps an outlier, but he thought The Pacific as a companion series was even better. That one took a few episodes for me to recognize the quality, but by the end realize it's in the same ballpark for excellence.
