Even if it was the same money, I think I'd rather go to Oregon with a legit shot at the natty before declaring for the draft, getting paid to come plug-in and be the new Theinaman this year, as opposed to expectations of being all-world putting the Gophers entire team on your back. Theinaman first round, we'll be seeing him 2x per year here now
Just wait til we see Koi 17 (maybe 18+) times a year and he becomes beloved in Minnesota again! He really hasn’t been shy about his true goals in life and football. Talk about a 360 for a guy/family!
Agreed- If Danny Collins is as bad of a DC as everyone on this god forsaken website suggests, then this was obviously a very good move by Koi for both his near and long term future.
So you are assuming if Perich becomes a Viking, the utter lack of Playoff success will continue.
He was good as a freshman and DC Hetherman left to get Miami into the National Championship.
Koi also wasn't asked to do as much his freshman year. He took a step back when responsibility became greater. Our CBs were awful last year too which also put more pressure on safeties to play responsibly. Koi didn't adjust very well to that.

I think some of that 8 months was not without reason. Even before that if you asked fans they had valid criticisms.
The biggest thing I got out of that is that they bet on Koi to be able to handle a different role (and stuck with it, perhaps due to being no apparent better option and wanting to not change base defense to accommodate) and Koi didn't handle it as well as they assumed he would. While the focus is on Koi, it is actually a major indictment of Coach Collins approach and how Koi was used last year. From this take, Koi's "dropoff" on the defensive side of the ball that certainly this GHer lamented was almost entirely situational as some others opined.
This does not address using him on offense or as a returner, but he probably was not happy with the shift from Heatherman to Collins at the helm that showed up on the field.

No kidding! I can't imagine the time it took to write that. I'll give the author credit though, it's far better than most of the articles just pumped out nowadays.
That really is a DEEP dive. I like the one and only comment on it. Saying playing a really good saftey at saftey is better than playing a really good saftey at linebacker. I wish I read that first it would have saved me 45 minutes.
