Transfer Portal 2026

I disagree about Gophers wbb not graduating players, most to majority of the players here graduate and are successful. Back to portal wan't's, would not mind a Point guard like Janay Sanders was for the Gophers team a couple season's ago. Good on ball defender, we need another ball handler. Will probably need a 5 with just the Red shirt Bashears back in that role. Would not mind that Purdue center, think we recruited her before.
Coming off a successful season, I have to believe we can attract someone better than Sanders. While she may have been a good defender and ball handler, she provided absolutely nothing on offense. Going four on five on offensively is not the answer.

Finally, Trump trying to put an end to the college sports disaster. The student-athlete label is a joke. These are athletes being paid to represent a college brand. Period. Majority of players never graduate or have non marketable degrees. Many college athletes struggle after their playing days are over. There are only so many hand out asst coaching jobs available.
The issues you cite are not nearly as present in women’s sports as they are in men’s. Sometime down the line a university will do an examination of conscience about their mission and not be able to reconcile it to their sports culture. Eventually there will be athletes who regret blowing an opportunity for a free education.

I agree with BB. Against the really good teams like Michigan, UCLA etc, you can't play 4 on 5. For a coach that's just much too easy to defend.

And his authority to control college sports is based on his noted interest in higher education ? That said I think it’s impressive that he is able to take time from the Iranian Insurrection, the Venezuela Venture, the Cuban Caper, the Greenland Gambit, and the Canadian Crusade. Nothing is too small for this great man to try and control. We can only hope that he looks into whether there was .8 seconds left after Battles game winner, or .4 as I suspect. It’s that attention to detail, that makes him the Greatest President this country has ever had!

Yeah, I disagree on large numbers of women players not graduating. Take the Gophers, or South Carolina. Dawn Staley has had one player who didn't graduate according to her and she said she really tried to convince that one to stick it out. She brags up Tournament Tessa who completed her undergraduate in 3 years and is working on her masters now. She jokes that Tessa is the kind of person who would wear a pocket protector.

Tianna Thompson, the Ole Miss player who missed the 3 pointer against the Gophers at the Barn with .8 seconds to go is entering the portal.

Why would we want someone who can’t perform in the clutch? 🙄
I mean, I don't know. I thought it was interesting and didn't know we could only post about players we desperately wanted. She also had the best 3 point shooting percentage with 42% on their team. Hope you have a better day than you are right now. And Happy Easter to those who celebrate!

I need to recalibrate my sarcasm meter! Not to speak of putting my tongue more firmly into my cheek! 🐇🐇🐇🐇

"An SEC team has Crooks’ value in the $450,000 to $500,000 range, a source told On3, but expects the center to be asking for well north of the half-million mark,” Nakos wrote.

If it turns out to be true that Virginia is willing to pay big bucks to lure Kenny Brooks away from Kentucky, that could create some disruption...

I read somewhere it was thought TCU helped Miles get north of $1M so I wouldn’t doubt it!

There seems to be a lot of turmoil in WBB that may help us sign higher-rated players in the portal. Virginia and Georgia have fired their head coaches. We know about Iowa St. Also, Tennessee is having issues. This is probably just the tip of the iceberg. It might be a wild time in the portal! Can't wait to see what Monday brings. Minnesota's solid coaching and roster stability may be an enticing factor for a star player who wasn't on our radar.

Interesting how Dugalic from UCLA who started much of last 2 years agreed with coach to come off the bench(still averaged 23 min) but agreed to be ok with coming off the bench with kneepkens brought in. All seemed to work out ok with a national championship.

Made a small contribution to the DTA, hopefully it helps for the portal. Think of it as an additional seat fee (and yes, I know they raised it for the upcoming season).

I thought that I read that she actually approached the coach and suggested it if it would help the team win.

Those are the type of players you want to recruit, either from HS or the Portal. Players who believe that being part of a winner trumps everything else. I know it's harder to find those players these days, but I also believe they are out there. Would be awesome to get high ability, high character players that fit the system and culture that's been established on the Gophers team. I'm guessing that Coach and her staff have a decent list of players that would fit those molds.

I wanted to give a kind of a heads up and a few things with the portal opening up for everyone to know/remember.

First the maybe not great news. I wouldn't get hopes up or really get excited for Audi Crooks or Nunu Agara to be Gophers. I would say less than 5% chance..if even that high. Just stating what I know.

Gophers are going to be active in the portal, however, they will always look for style of play and fit over name plain and simple. they want/need a Center and Point guard (actual PG not a combo guard who can handle), and those will be the targets.

they will look heavily at bringing or trying to bring local kids "home" but I would say Home is more midwest (Iowa, wisconsin, minnesota, dakotas) instead of simply Minnesota.

Great news all around. Agara and Crooks aren't who we need. And we're targeting the right people and positions.

Agara is exactly what this program needs. Disappointing some of these kids don’t want to come home; but, I know some want final four exposure.
She's not a center or a point guard. Those are the biggest needs. Agara would be great, but resources need to be allocated to those positions first, and I doubt there's enough to go around and get her after securing the other two.

Put her in the same category as NuNu and Audi. Less than 5% chance of gophers, and that might be on the high end.
Curious is NIL still the biggest factor for these high impact players?
Do the Gophers have eyes on particular players?
