Transfer Portal 2026

Lana McCarthy is in the portal with a do not contact. That usually means she has picked her school already

Actually, while already knowing their school could be why, the more common reasons now for Do Not Contact is not wanting all the schools and coaches to reach out to them directly. It’s to have them go through their agent (if they have one) or their AAU coach or whoever they have assigned to handle the communication. It helps them weed out schools they don’t have interest in further talking with or considering but doesn’t necessarily mean they have a set school in mind.

Curious is NIL still the biggest factor for these high impact players?
Do the Gophers have eyes on particular players?
Money is a huge thing. Teams like TCU, UCLA, Ole Miss, Maryland, Tennessee, Iowa State etc all have 6-10 openings and that also means A LOT of money to throw at the star players. Gophers are not poor or in the dumps money wise at all.......but swinging for a big name will likely take all that they have.

Liv McGill is entering the portal, it’ll be very interesting to see where she lands; obviously a highly talented player.

I really appreciate the insights!

Since we won’t be swapping a Hopkins grad point guard for another, how about swapping one NC State post transfer with another?! Tulsa Tryyger is a 6’6” post in the portal that averaged 10.6 points and 7.1 rebounds. From Sweden. Reminds me I want to grab lunch at the Swedish Institute in S. Mpls this week. 😅

Our last Swedish post, Amanda Zahui B., turned out pretty great!

Ya, dats fur sure!

Over the last 2 years. 2,500 players have entered the portal in woman’s college basketball. Only 2 of those names are gophers. Once again massive props to Dawn and staff
Technically there were 5 Gophers. Jordan Brooks and Tracy Bershears also went to the portal, but I suppose that means they exhausted whatever "eligibility" Dawn was willing to offer them here. Then you forgot Mallory.

You’re right. I’m struggling today! Hahaha

This is the center we need.

McGill and Trygger would make the Gophers an Elite 8 team and contend for the Big Ten title.

Thanks for bringing the reality of the current landscape of college basketball. Coach Staley was quoted this weekend as saying that money expectations for the players is her 1st ? This is primarily not as much about fit/ culture but more about money and playing time. Gophers can’t afford a TCU like paying Miles a million for 1 year.

Richard petino was asked on kfan What to do now when the portal opens? This is paraphrasing him, but he said, get all the money you can. He said the cheapest athletes are high school kids. Then, you hope to get a discount on the kids You have, and the most expensive are in the portal because they have the leverage

Hopefully Crump and McGill get a giant bag if they're not Gophers.

Yikes, talk about ruff.

TN down to one player on their roster and just lost their top recruit as well.

If I read right, 1,100 D1 WBB players entered the portal today so that's about 3 per team on average.

All of a sudden Texas is getting pretty thin with two seniors graduating and only 2 recruits coming in at the forward position if I heard correctly, as starter Justice Carlton decides to enter NCAA's transfer portal.

Justice Carlton enters transfer portal

The local paper (Austin American-Statesman) hasn't made it official for Crump yet saying she appears to be transferring.
