Some team will give them a 3rd-5th rounder for him. I don't love him but he's worth a flyer somewhere. I guess if you think he's worth more as a back-up than a 5th round pick, maybe they keep him.

That's not the worst idea in the world, but would ATL do it? Also, are you saying give the reins to Nix in this scenario (if he's still available at 42), or let him learn behind Mullens (or Darnold)?
Also, not sure ATL throws in the 2025 1st in that scenario.

Just having some fun...no clue about what JJ would actually return in a trade. The only thing I'm sure of is NOT using assets to trade up for McCarthy.

McCarthy will be gone by 5 or 6, and I wouldn't be shocked if he went as high as #2, in front of Daniels and Maye. It could happen; not saying it will but it could.

Nothing will surprise me with desperate teams involved. I'm in the minority and don't care for McCarthy or Maye enough to want to use valuable resources to move up to grab them.

Let's just tank in 2024 with the slogan "Going Ned Flanders for Sanders".

Running back Austin Ekeler is planning to sign with the Washington Commanders on a two-year deal worth up to $11.43 million, a league source confirmed Monday.

He finished last season with 1,064 yards from scrimmage and six touchdowns from scrimmage. That was the third-straight and fourth overall season he tallied at least 1,000 yards from scrimmage finishing with 628 rushing yards and 436 receiving yards.

He’s been one of the most productive running backs in the NFL during the last four seasons, scoring 47 offensive touchdowns during that stretch — the second most of any running back.

Mueller’s scouting report on Ekeler​

Ekeler’s 21 first downs via reception led the group of backs in 2023. He is slippery after the catch and runs bigger than his size, forcing arm tacklers to miss like a larger back. He has really good natural vision to find daylight and a nose for the goal line. He has plenty of gas left in his tank from a speed and acceleration standpoint, but he’s at his best when supplemented with an early-down back. — Randy Mueller, NFL staff writer

Randy Mueller is a fool. Use him as a guide but not as a serious person.

Ekeler had his worst ever yards per carry and catch percentage, and so forth. 3.5 yards per carry. That's much worse than Mattison last year.

Ekeler is a 3rd down back at this stage of his career. He found a team foolish enough to pay him ok money.

His analysis states he’s a third down back at this juncture. My joking reply was that he’s got enough left to get a two year contract to play.

There are innumerable experts at various outlets and on here as well (me included); and it’s all just conjecture - the difference is he gets paid for his and I don’t believe anyone on here does.

The Vikings have shown interest in Jones, who is now free to sign with any team, sources tell The Athletic’s Dianna Russini.

If they're intent on replacing Jones, they're drafting a QB to sit behind him for a year, or they're paying Jones $36MM to carry a clipboard this year, and taking a $22MM cap hit next year to cut him. They just got rid of Barkley. I would say much more likely is they are already in tank mode (unofficially) and will draft a QB in 2025. Jones should be sending a daily thank you card to the Vikes for that playoff win. The Giants were so monumentally stupid to sign him to that contract. At least it only really cost them 2 years, as they can (reasonably easily) cut him after 2024.

For the right price, come on down! If for no other reason to piss of the Packers fans. He was a fan favorite, and that would hurt.

FWIW - NFL Live said that they’d play him this season due to his contract and will be done with him after that season.

Pack wanted him to take a pay cut and he said no and they decided to cut him.

He averaged 4.6 ypa this season and 5 ypa in his career number. He runs as hard as any back, for the right price, heck yeah!!

So they bought land in the burbs, and now owe $9MM in taxes on that property (assume annually, but the article doesn't state that):

When the two sides could not reach an agreement, the Board of Review ruled late last month that the property is worth just under $125 million, leaving the team with a tax bill somewhere in the neighborhood of $9 million.

Now they want to construct near Soldier Field, which still has $589MM due on the bonds. And the Bears think they're still getting hundreds of millions to build a new stadium with the state on the hook for almost $600MM for a stadium they no longer want to play at?? Yikes. Kevin Warren hitting home runs for the Bears.

Complicating the ask for public funding is the money still owed on both teams' stadiums. The Illinois Sport Facilities Authority, which issued bonds for the construction of both stadiums, owes $589 million on the 2002 renovation of Soldier Field and $50 million on Guaranteed Rate, which opened in 1991. Those bonds are paid in part through the state's 2% hotel tax, but if those revenues can’t make the multi-million dollar payments, Chicago’s share of the state income tax picks up the shortfall. Guaranteed Rate’s bonds are slated to be paid off in 2029, while the Soldier Field deal runs through 2032.

Maybe we're all too close to this at the moment, but there's some divine comedy at play with Kirk Cousins, whose reputation is that he cannot win a big game moving from arguably the league's most star-crossed franchise to the junior version of most star-crossed franchise. On paper, it may look like a heavenly match--weak division, untapped and young talent on offense, just needing a quarterback to make a deep playoff run--but as Sunshine Anderson foretold, we've heard this song before. Or, Cousins takes the Falcons to the promised land, raises the Lombardi Trophy and another chapter is written in the tragedy that is being a Minnesota sports fan.

Seriously, both stadiums - it's like the people that take a car they're underwater on and trade it in and end up with a $700/month payment on a used Nissan Sentra.

From an outside perspective, it looks like the Falcons are doing just what the Vikings did with Cousins. Tried a couple options, haven't worked and Cousins isn't perfect, but he's the safest player available at the most important position in sports.
