Nebraska QB Adrian Martinez has entered the Transfer Portal

I thought he was done? I could certainly be wrong. The rhetorical style of your question leads me to believe he must have another year…
Honestly, I have no idea. I can't keep track of the other teams. I thought he was the same year as Tanner but I could be wrong too.

He's not coming here. Remember we had Zack Annexstad waiting in the wings until Morgan decided to come back. Maybe Zack goes to Nebby.

If I were a betting man, I'd say he follows his girlfriend. He's probably physically beat up right now at Nebraska, not feeling the love, doesn't look good for next year as a team. Why not get healthy, have a fresh start at a new school with some new memories and enjoy college with his girlfriend.

Martinez Completes 64% of his passes for his career. Morgan completes 61%.

Morgan had the better offensive line and had Bateman and Johnson, which Martinez never had.

Martinez hands down in this offense. Won't happen, but if Morgan wasn't coming back, I'd be intrigued.
Like I said, on the move outside the pocket he’s good. Inside the pocket not so much. His career stats don’t separate the two unfortunately.

Does Minnesota allow anyone other than Tanner Morgan to take snaps?
We probably will next year. His odds of going four and a half years taking all but two meaningful snaps without some kind of injury are extremely low. We will no doubt see Athan somewhere in '22.

Well the backup just nearly beat Iowa. Not sure how many mistakes he made that may have led to the collapse, or how much he contributed to the early lead(s). But was good enough to nearly pull off the upset.
I don't read too much into one game from a backup (or new starter), especially if there isn't much film on him. I can think of too many instances where a backup QB (or new starter at the beginning of the season) comes in, lights it up, and then nosedives. It's pretty hard to game plan for a guy you've never seen. Padilla in his second start against Illinois went 6/17 for 83 yards and was pulled in the Nebby game for Petras. Or Graham Mertz looking like the second coming of Tom Brady at the beginning of last year. Or the Michigan kid that lit up the Gophers last year in his first start, then tanked and transferred. Or Luke McCaffery looking great for a couple games and then looking terrible and transferring.

I had no idea he had eligibility to play NCAA football. Run for President, sure.

If Nebraska trots out Annexstad next year Frost is gone.
For sure.

let’s take a 3-9 Nebraska team.

Lose Austin Allen
Take Adrian martinez’ passing, make it slightly worse
Take Martinez’ running, make it disappear

I’ve gotta think Northwestern would take just about anyone that can stand behind center, whether that’s Martinez, Annexstad, or Air Bud.
I can think of worse places to get a free graduate degree from, as well. Not a bad landing spot for anybody, independent of football.

Although I’m not sure Air Bud has any eligibility left.

According to the Husker board they think he’s good to Kansas St.
K-State has NDSU's old head coach.

Granted I haven't watched them much, so they might've opened it up somewhat. But in Fargo they RUTM from under center, and do play action off that, for like 70-80% of their offense.

And some of the plays are designed runs from the QB.

So Martinez can basically be a RB or hand the ball off, and not have to make many important throws. Probably nice for him.

Yes, you’re right. One more eligibility year. The word senior is meaningless right now.

Somewhat similar production over their careers. Martinez probably the better, more durable runner. Clifford was never the same after Iowa this year and did not run the ball or run it effectively the rest of the year.

I wonder how Clifford is playing with PSU fans and Franklin. If Martinez says YES do you tell Clifford to move on?

I like how any time a college player is transferring and we just happen to know the name of the player it means there is some speculation they are coming here. Guys, he's not transferring to MN to be a backup in his final year.

The word senior is meaningless right now.
The gophersports .com roster people had to invent a brand new term for Justus Harris for this season.

He wasn't a grad student.
He never redshirted, so they couldn't call him a "redshirt senior".
And he was already called a "senior" last year, as he played his first four years straight (2017-2020).

So they literally just called him a "Fifth year". :ROFLMAO:

ZA is in a tough spot for landing a P5 job. I actually think he knows that too, which makes me think he was passed on the depth chart by either Athan or Kramer.

It just feels like if he ends up at P5 position, it'll likely be walking into a QB competition with someone younger than him. I'd think that would only be appealing to him if he had already lost a QB competition with someone younger than him here.

Either way, wherever he goes, I'll be cheering for ZA.

Good question.

If he can go start for an FCS school he can get his name out there and you never know. It worked for Streveler to a degree.

Yeah, I actually think that route makes the most sense for him.
