The SEC is dominating the Big Ten in ratings — despite on-field parity

ESPN is still king in television sports and southerners still like CFB more than northerners.

2025-26 College Football Coach Fired/Hired Thread

I spent a week in Ames one night when I was in college. Its all a little blurry but I do recall it being a very good time.

2025-26 College Football Coach Fired/Hired Thread

It's sad watching Washington State social media and how the program and its fans have not yet come to grips with their new place in the FBS pecking order. Lots of unrealistic names being tossed out for coaching candidates at a school that was only recently discussing reducing full scholarships...

It’s Official; Gophers play New Mexico in Rate Bowl

Not Minnesota, but Eck also coached just 20 miles across the border in Brookings as OC for South Dakota State. He is and was known for creative play calling. I would expect that he'll really open up his bag of tricks in the bowl game. He also gives a good interview - he's got a sense of humor...

    NDSU goes down

That's very true but their attendance has been down for regular season games, too. They averaged about 16,000 a game at a stadium that seats just under 19,000 coming off a national championship. I think it was an improvement over 2024 by about a 1,000 people per game. SDSU has averaged more...

How much money is an FCS back with 800 yards from scrimmage really worth?

It’s Official; Gophers play New Mexico in Rate Bowl

I think what influences the decision to send Nebby to a better bowl is that their fans in fact travel better than ours, it's not merely an expectation. The bowl organizers don't need to hypothesize why Gopher fans don't travel. They don't care if it's pro sports, or Delta gouging Twin City...

    NDSU goes down

The bloom went off the rose 5 or 6 years ago. During the prior decade sellouts were still routine but I think by 2019 attendance started to swoon. I would have thought that in the new decade, when the inevitability disappeared, that it would have been more interesting. I can't imagine the...

    NDSU goes down

They are well aware. That's why there is a constant cry to move to FBS. No acknowledgement needed.

    NDSU goes down

I don't know if Mo St was picked by C-USA due to size and geography? The school had been posturing for FBS for a long time even though the FB program was generally average at best and usually poor. Sac St wrote the blue print on how to really muck things up. It's almost as if they thought...

    NDSU goes down

All true except Missouri State. Couldn't compete at FCS but is bowl eligible in C-USA.

    NDSU goes down

The failed P4 guys seem more often than not to be fools gold. ZOf course there are always exceptions - Aiden Bouman for instance, who transferred from Iowa State to South Dakota.

Why does that matter to the Las Vegas bowl?

2025-26 College Football Coach Fired/Hired Thread

Looks like a pretty high acceptance rate compared to the U. Three times as large as NDSU. I had assumed there was reciprocity but it doesn't exist. Some Iowa schools have individual accommodations for Minnesota residents. But total undergraduate cost of attendance for undergraduate...

It’s Official; Gophers play New Mexico in Rate Bowl

Cowardly backs out? The players voted not to play. The coach is gone. The roster depleted. Players are sitting out these meaningless games more and more. Lots of social media noting the bowl system is dead, and all the opt outs are accelerating it.
