Don't disagree, I mean that was the way it was done for years.
Stockton and Simpson were both really highly rated out of high school which might have made them more confident in being the heir apparent at Georgia and Alabama.
For less highly rated QBs in this current era they may be better...
First use of "has" was to say it is out of the players control which was followed by the explanation that team doesn't have to if they don't have to if they don't want too.... :)
Pretty sure that you forfeit your scholarship when you go into the portal. Team has to take you back if you want to come out of the portal and return, but they don't have to if they don't want to.
I think scholarships are year to year so if you try to play games with it the team can just not...
For QBs this definitely seems like the way to go unless you are sure you have a shot to land a starting job at a power 4 school as a freshman which very few guys can.
Good chance not wanting to end up with the Raiders or Jets played at leas some roll in his decision to come back. Some teams have just proven to be QB graveyards and those are two of the worst over the past few years especially.
Not out of the question if he finds that the grass isn't greener and he isn't getting the kind of offers he wants. If the team took him back we would be at 5 QBs on the roster (Drake, Max, Wittke, Merdinger, and Kollack). Question would be if there is still a spot for him.
Edit - totally...
Stephens not Stevens
I would be surprised to see both Turner and Stephens back. Tougher to say on the other injured guys.
Scoring will definitely need to be priority #1 to replace Tyson and Reynolds.
Could hold out for teams to have injuries and need a QB down the line I suppose. If you are in the portal you stay in the portal even after the window closes I believe so he could still catch on with a team during spring ball or even fall camp if he wants to wait around.
Not really. Probably means he is holding out in hopes of finding a Power 4 school that would take him, but he isn't going to be a high priority type recruit for any of those schools who will be looking for more proven options.
Seems like he wouldn't have much trouble finding a landing spot if...
Probably....but like Bucky Irving it is pretty clear he is chasing the money and the spotlight. Tough to fault a kid for that in this current age of college athletics.
Oregon can afford to overpay for a player like Koi, we most likely can't.
Not a bad idea.
College careers are short.....even if Koi had stayed he had what 1, maybe 2 seasons left here....
In the grand scheme of things Koi will be remembered for the way he burst on the scene as a freshman and unfortunately for him his sophomore season will be remembered for the Cal...
