Nice job by SDSU and their fine coach

If true, no one should give another dime until the real decision maker is let go.

    If the current guys stay....

I am results based. The results indicate things could have been done better. There is one part luck to winning (injuries, lucky bounces, etc), but most of it is knowing how to put things together in a manner in which most people do not comprehend. You can put a good player with 10 different...

    If the current guys stay....

Great coaches know how to get the most out of people. They make sure players understand their roles, they relish them and they confidently fulfill said roles. There is no confusion. There is team cohesion and a desire to do whatever it takes to win. Maybe this year's team had that, but the...

    If the current guys stay....

I am going to challenge you on that claim. We won 2 out of 19 big ten games. The numbers argue we did not play the right players and/or did not put those players in the best position to succeed.

    If the current guys stay....

BGA, some players require less coaching. They know how to play relative to each other and that could explain being relatively better last year. This year, there seemed to be role and expectation confusion from what I watched. When players don't know where they fit, the season is going to be long.

    If the current guys stay....

We can all bemoan what people cannot do, but good coaches find what people do well and get the most out of them. A great coach can create a cohesive team out of pretty good players, put them in position to succeed and raise the fortunes of all. A bad coach does the opposite. A bad coach can turn...

I would be cool with it following a reasonable market based system. I think it is fair that players need to continue to earn their scholarships and it is also fair that they should be able to improve their lot in life if a better opportunity avails itself.

Great debate BGA! As an FYI, a panel of international arbiters, known as the IAA (Int. Arbiters Assoc.) declared me the winner unanimously per their email. I am obviously joking. Agreeing to disagree is quite alright!

Any commitment is a 2-way street. A coach can leave whenever they want. If they have a better situation, they can leave. If they are fired, they get guaranteed money. A college kid wants to leave for a better situation and people melt down. These kids are not getting married, they are trying...

LOL. I am going to quote myself from above: Put something on paper, and someone will cheat it or abuse it...guaranteed. You view it as a product and I view it as the lives of young people. Their lives are more important that the fans' product. That stated and to your point, scholarships are...

I was going to say that, but I didn't want to pour it on too thick! Thx Disco.

There were some rules and the rules changed. You don't like the new rules, I like them. Just like any rule, there will always be idiots who abuse them. Put something on paper, and someone will cheat it or abuse it...guaranteed. "I mean if you are going down that road maybe we shoudn't require...

Non-compete clauses rarely keep someone from leaving an organization and are typically geared towards leadership. Leadership in your example, would be the coach, not the players. According to the BLS, employee turnover is greater than 50%, so the labor market is far more fluid than the transfer...
