The driveSept. 27, Ann Arbor, Mich.
Tied 7-7, the Gophers got the ball at their own 1-yard line late in the first half at Michigan. The Wolverines quickly forced third-and-5, but Lincoln Plsek made a leaping catch on Leidner’s throw for a critical 21-yard gain. David Cobb took over from there with runs of 14, 8 and 20, along with an 11-yard reception. Ryan Santoso hit a 24-yard field goal as time expired in the half, and the Gophers never looked back, winning the Little Brown Jug for the first time since 2005.

The return

Oct. 11, Minneapolis
Northwestern had just driven 97 yards for the tying touchdown, and Jerry Kill had just slammed his headset to the ground in disgust with the officials. It was halfway through the fourth quarter. Minnesota was desperate for a lift. Myrick, a sophomore cornerback from Bloomingdale, Ga., caught the kickoff two steps behind the goal line and didn’t hesitate. He veered diagonally through a huge hole, made a cut, got a big block from Antonio Johnson and showed his sprinter’s speed down the sideline, electrifying the crowd. The Gophers held on for a 24-17 win.

Interesting read. The strip vs. NU was great but the play would have been called back. I didn't realize the play clock expired vs. Becky? Then again, I tend to crawl under a rock for about 24 hours after a loss.

Good article. At least one of the purdue plays (santoso fg or thompson's second pick) needs to be included.

Look at the linked story LOL. Those crazy Badgers.

Correct, it would have a penalty (going out of bounds unforced and being first player to touch the ball) on Nebraska and the play would have been called back. But the key was that BBC stripped the ball during the sequence and recovered it. Thus taking any future additional opportunity(ies) away from Nebraska to run another play(s) and for our Gophers to get a first down and run out the clock on them and secure the W.

Important to remember that happened on only 3rd down and there still would have been over a minute or so still on the clock for Nebraska (with 3 timeouts available), and at minimum two additional plays to work with (replay of 3rd & 4th), even with a penalty being called and the play coming back. Obviously at that point it is all hypothetical, but knows what happens. So it was in my opinion a huge play on the season by BBC for our Gophers.

Not sure why Joe C. chose the number seven - column inches, perhaps? - but the comeback vs. Purdue should've been included. Either Ryan Santoso's game-winner, or Cedric Thompson's game-clincher.

You sure that wasn't loss of down and they only would have had 4th down to work with? (Either way, would have been brought back.)

Good Play of the Year is Myrick's return. More than any other good play it impacted the outcome of a game.

Bad Play of the Year is David's fumble. More than any other bad play it impacted the outcome of a game.

Agree

Good Play of the Year is Myrick's return. More than any other good play it impacted the outcome of a game.

Bad Play of the Year is David's fumble. More than any other bad play it impacted the outcome of a game.

My First impressions that come to mind for individual plays impacting the result of a game are the same.

I thought the pick 6 vs Michigain was huge! What a fun game that was!

It is so great to see the ball bounce the Gopher's way after all these years.
