Hollinsanity and fraternity2017 have ferreted out info on additional busses for the Student Bowl trip. It's posted on the other Citrus Bowl threads but since it's a great deal and the deadline may be before Monday morning, thought a separate post may also be a good idea

fraternity2017:
"Just had a nice exchange with the @MyGopherSports twitter page. Turns out three friends and I made the list, while two are still waiting. Sad for the two, but I'll see you guys in Florida!"

Hollinsanity:

I am luckily on the bus, but I have six or seven friends currently on the wait list. They received the following email yesterday:

University of Minnesota Students,

Thank you for your interest in the student travel package for the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl. We are in the process of adding additional buses for the road trip.
On Monday, December 15th we will be calling everyone on the wait list to inform you if your priority has been selected to purchase a travel package. If your wait list priority has been selected, payment for the travel package must be provided no later than Tuesday, December 16th at 12:00pm. If payment is not received by that time, your reservation will be forfeited.

For any other questions, please call the Gopher Sales & Service Department at 1-800-U-GOPHER. The Gopher Sales & Service Department is open Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This would have gotten lost in the shuffle. Thank you for posting! I think people need to know they need to get on that waitlist.

Bump; just in case there are students who check Gopherhole on a Saturday night..

More information is coming Monday, but they are definitely able to tell you if you are already off of the waitlist. I was put on at roughly 12:30 on Friday and received confirmation via Twitter (surprisingly) that I was taken off. So anybody who was put on before that should be good. My friend was working when tickets came out and was put on the list at 1:30 and they told him he's still on the list but should wait until Monday.

So as of 10:38 am today everybody who was put on the waitlist by sometime between 12:30 and 1:29 is off the list. But they made it sound like there was a possibility of more people being added.

When you say "off the waitlist", you mean on the bus, right? Or do you meant not going to be able to get on the bus?

Here is to hoping the U doesn't screw it up and can get as many students as want to go on to the buses and down to Florida.....Don't kill the momentum before it even gets rolling

Get it?? Because they are buses with wheels that roll!!!

But on a more serious note I wholeheartedly agree.

For some on this board who have been unfairly harping on the U of M ticket office at times in regards to the student ticket bowl package process. Looks like even a seasoned bowl bound ticket office such as Ohio State goes through some of the same things the U of M is seeing and having to deal with. i.e. Exceptionally high demand for a limited supply of tickets/space available. Thus asking for patience from their fans while they get all things figured out and see if they can obtain any more tickets/space to try and meet some or all of said high demand. My point is that some need to stop with the ridiculous bashing of the U of M ticket office or stupidly calling them idiots or constantly saying they don't know what they are doing. It is petty and lame. I trust they know what they are doing and please try to just have some degree of patience and hopefully you get a ticket from the limited supply available. Cheers!

Below is an email from an Ohio State message board regarding the current Ohio State student/faculty/staff Sugar Bowl ticket process. It is in reaction to the high demand from students/faculty/staff for the limited supply of tickets/space they have available (just like we are seeing):

"We know you're anxiously awaiting information regarding the status of your Sugar Bowl ticket request. The demand for tickets has far exceeded the supply available. Due to this overwhelming demand, we are attempting to secure additional tickets to accommodate as many requests as possible. We are still awaiting confirmation on the total quantity of additional tickets we are able to acquire, resulting in a slight delay in the timeline that was originally communicated.

We expect to receive confirmation of our final ticket numbers over the weekend and we are committed to having all credit cards processed for those receiving tickets and all notification emails sent by Monday, December 15th at Noon ET. We expect to ship all tickets on the 19th.

We appreciate your patience as we work diligently toward ensuring that as many Buckeye supporters can follow the team to New Orleans as possible.

Please feel free to contact the Athletics Ticket Office via email to [email protected] or by phone at 1-800-GOBUCKS should you have any questions. Customer service representatives are available via phone Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.

Thank you for your continued support of Ohio State Athletics!

The demand is unquestionably much greater for a team with a well heeled, experienced, fan base heading to a Championship Bowl but sure, yeah, the ticket office here is dealing with a very short time period and a greater demand then they've had to deal with before.

No reason to castigate them for not doing everything perfectly.

It is simply fantastic that we are having this problem. Tickets are selling fast, students need more buses, fans are excited and the Gophers are in a January 1 bowl!

They added 2 more to make it 4, hoping to make it 6.

Get on that waiting list if you want to go!!!

Worthwhile to note that other schools are going through the same process, but I don't think Ohio State is a very good comparison for a number of reasons. For one, Sugar Bowl tickets are in significantly greater demand and are much more expensive than Citrus Bowl tickets. Additionally, although tOSU should keep all fans continued interest in the program in mind, the U of M should put a much bigger emphasis on growing student support because of paltry student attendance and the potential of students becoming lifelong fans.

This is the part that bothers me most. Why didn't they start with six buses and go from there?? It was clear that demand was going to be significantly higher than last year for a number of reasons.

And IMO if the U of M has to lose some money in order to send more students they should bite the bullet. Based on some quick numbers I have run a charter bus trip for two nights is around $350-400 per person. If the U has to eat a $50,000 loss in order to send 500 students they should send the 500 students anyways.

U of M, really appreciate your efforts to put a great package together and work to send as many students as possible!!!!!!!!

@GophersNow: #Gophers coach Jerry Kill and TCF Bank each donated $5,000 to help 112 students get to the Citrus Bowl, per @Charley_Walters

Doesn't this sort of verify that "80" number that was thrown around originally? Starting with two busses (same as we sent to Houston, correct?) is pure ridiculousness, regardless of what supadupa says. I'm thrilled they're doing all they can to continue adding, but I'm not sure why they wouldn't have anticipated far greater demand than last year. Again though, if they get the students there that want to go, I've got no issues.

What the hell. If you want to play in front of a "home town" crowd, bring them with you!

I couldn't agree more. And honestly, $5000 is a really small amount to both. I honestly think we could have brought 15-20K if they had charter trips for closer to $1000 or $1200 for the adults too.

I don't post much on here and it gets harder and harder to read what is posted because most of it is from a bunch of know it alls, back seat driver types, and those who believe others should foot the bill. I'm sure the ticket office is doing the best they can. Did they under-estimate student demand? hind-sight says yes, but I flew from Orlando for the Iowa game, one of our biggest rivalries, and pretty much the entire second deck of the student section was empty. So give the ticket office a break and give them some credit for working hard and putting together a great package. And would demand be as great if coach and Rebecca Kill as well as TCF bank had not stepped in to subsidize the trip? I doubt it. Give them some hearty THANKS as well! And as for the suggestion that the U should just fork over $50,000. Not the way the real world works. Maybe they will do that, maybe they will subsidize a couple busses themselves, we don't know and may never know. But for those making the suggestion that others should pay or loose money so you can get a great deal, my suggestion would be that you take it upon yourselves, put together a group, and drive yourselves to the game. I'll get off my soapbox now.

THIS. I get I am cheap and will likely regret not going to Orlando, but I just couldn't justify what it would have cost me to get there. Anything reasonable and I would have done it. I can only assume there are many many others in that same boat.

Anything reasonable??? Good God man, $299 for charter bus, hotel, game tickets etc. Man you are out of here.

I really wanted to go. In the end, I realized I couldn't swing it with my work schedule. But I think I'll be content knowing I didn't spend the money. I ended up spending $100 on the citrus bowl store and bought a hoodie, and 2 t-shirts. I figured it was a nice consolation prize for myself.

And on another note, It'll be interesting to see how the fans travel to the national championship game this year. Their fans will have had the opportunity to travel to a conference championship game, a NYD bowl, and a national title game. How the hell do you choose/afford more than 1? Lol I'd be bankrupt before I even got to the third game.

Ummm...I think he's talking about charter trips for adults, not students.

I hope not well...if tOSU can get to the finals I might make the trip to Dallas if tickets are affordable.

Try and follow along Don. The comment was in response to a comment about how many fans the Gophers could have had if they offered a reasonable package for ADULTS too. I'll type slower next time.

I wish they did. If they could offer something similar under $1000......I'd probably bite the bullet and make the trip.
