Here we go

What? Their only loss was to a very good football Arizona team (admittedly at home). And when they got another shot at that team, they went on to smash that team. That makes them a lock. In my opinion, they would be damn near a lock in a 2 team playoff.
They avenged their loss by 40
They have tied for the most top 25 wins.
They have the best out of conference win.
They have the best qb in college football this year.

They should have been ranked ahead of bama IMO

If you're going to say Oregon' only loss is to Arizona at home, TCU only lost to an even better Baylor on the road. Oregon probably should be #2, but I don't think its as clear cut as everyone says

Ohio State took advantage of a whiskey team that obviously didn't want to be there. Is there anyone who thinks Bama isn't going to drill them in the Sugar Bowl?

TCU (and Baylor) can gripe all they want. The logical top four are there. Argument could ensue on Florida State, but they played a tough schedule in a better conference than the Big 12 and came out bowed, but not beaten.

Florida state has the best resume.
IMO they got jobbed.

They got penalized for needing to come back against Boston college...yet Alabama gets no penalty for needing to come back on Arkansas, LSU, and not coming back against Ole Miss

Florida state had 3 top 25 wins (bama 4)
Florida state was 12-0 vs P5 (bama 9-1)
Florida state had 0 losses (bama 1)
Florida state trailed in 9 games (bama trailed in 7)

From what I've seen in the past couple of weeks (a lot, but not everything), Bama is the best team in the country. I don't know if it will be a beat down. tOSU's athletes on defense really showed up last night. It could be a real throwback, knock down/drag out, physically nasty game.

I don't know that I would say the ACC is better than the Big 12, but that's an argument for another day

Fair enough. Don't get me wrong, I think TCU got robbed a bit. If TCU got another crack at Baylor and beat them (by any margin), I would say TCU is on par with Oregon. They didn't get that chance, so we can't really say.

When it comes to comparing TCU and Baylor, I like TCU because a loss to a good team on the road by only three points really should count as a draw in the long run because had that game been played in Fort Worth, I bet TCU would have won. Now, throw in Baylor's loss to WVU and it's quite clear that TCU had a better season. That, and TCU looked better doing it all season, and had a much more difficult non-conf schedule.

I think there's a bias against Jameis and Jimbo for being knuckleheads. I would have had no problem if Jameis had been suspended at several junctures during the season, but he didn't and because he didn't, his behavior shouldn't matter to those putting the tournament together.

The Big 12 is the real life equivalent to Mattel Talking Football.

Memphis and Cincinnati to Big 12. That conference needs a championship in order to even the playing field... regardless of 4 or 8 team playoff. The process needs uniformity.

Big12 clearly got what was coming to them by not having the championship game. Their whole "we have a clear champion" garbage backfired on them, and they wont want to make that mistake again.

That won't matter if the playoff goes to 8 teams.

Baylor played the weakest non-conference schedule in the entire FBS...dead last. They missed the playoffs because they didn't deserve to be in. TCU lost to Baylor...nuff said. tOSU played the toughest schedule of the three, had the most wins against bowl eligible teams and destroyed becky yesterday.

I just wish the B1G-Pac12 Rosebowl would be happening...tradition over ratings IMO.

I completely agree with the top 4 teams but I would have loved a Oregon/Ohio State Rose Bowl and an Alabama/Florida State Sugar Bowl.

The importance is lessened a bit, yes. But when it comes to comparing teams, and making seeds and matchups at the end of the year, they need some semblance of uniformity: same number of games, byes, non-conference games, and each conference needs at least 12 teams and a championship game.

This +1000, but it will be worth it just to shut SEC people up if OSU can win this game.

Air Force
Colorado state
Boise state
Cincinnati
San Diego state
BYU
UCF

Probably my top 7

Living near Fort Collins, the reason the new stadium for CSU is so important is because they believe they can go to Big 12 then. The alumni are really pushing for it.

I love everything about this decision:

1. Big Ten team gets in.
2. Baylor hired a PR firm to get them in. They spent all their time arguing against TCU and then Ohio State beat them.
3. The Big 12 gets their throat stepped on because they didn't have a championship game.
4. I can actually get behind Ohio State now that they are on their 3rd QB. I think it makes them a little more likable.
5. If Ohio State beats Alabama, I will shamelessly chant "Big 10!" just like the SEC snobs.

I agree with all 5

Cincinnati and BYU seem the natural choices.

but Conneticut, Colorado State, or SMU might also be possibilites.

Absolutely right!!!

We'll see what happens. Alabama lost to an average Ole Miss. What tOSU just did to the number 2 defense in the nation and held Gordon to 76 yards. I'd say they have a chance in the Sugar Bowl. I won't be surprised if they lose, but I will be surprised if they get blown out.

Wow, the Big 12 is truly desperate if these are the two they are adding.

Almost as desperate as the Big 10 adding Maryland and Rutgers but not quite.

Maryland and Rutgers are much better than Memphis Cincinnati.

I have not seen it mentioned previously, but one game yesterday that really might have hurt both Baylor and TCU's chances was the OK loss to OK State. Both TCU and Baylor had received credit for a "quality" win against OK - and now Oklahoma was dropped from the AP top 25.

Good point. They are in the same boat we are in. Upsets in the Big12 and B1G show the "mediocrity" of the conference (apparently). Upsets in the SEC prove the "supreme depth and quality" of the SEC. It's garbage.

Eight teams may look good this year, but not every year - number eight is well down the list in qualifications most years - and it would take up six preliminary bowl games, pretty much destroying the bowl structure as we've had it forever. Four is fine. Even with eight, some teams would be howling they were left out.
