Well, his Hudl film is awesome; not sure about the competition (he's at a private school in Grand Rapids, MI), but if his listed size is legit (6'4, 240), he seems to be a heck of an athlete.

I was starting to wonder about TE. I don't think we have one committed right now, correct? I'm assuming the coaches will want to take at least one TE per year for sure.

Almonzo Brown looks like a potential TE/H-Back to me. He may not be tall enough.

The coaches may have not initially planned to take a TE this class but with Elmore moving to DE and Maxx probably leaving after next year they changed their mind.

2 new OVs have been scheduled:

Julian Jones on 12/12: http://247sports.com/Player/Julian-Jones-52381
Jared Pinkney on 1/16: http://247sports.com/Player/Jared-Pinkney-63224

Pinkney is a WR from Georgia with a big-time offer list. Jones is an Arkansas St. commit who recently picked up offers from the Gophers and Illinois. He played a number of positions in high school, but given his size (6'3", 205 lbs.) probably projects as an OLB.

Very good to see that Pinkney has scheduled an OV. I would think we would probably take whoever commits first between Pinkey and Hunter Register and whoever commits first between Jones and Mckinley Whitfield. Those two pairs are very similar and don't know if we want more than one of their types.

This staff seems to maintain a lot of flexibility regarding how many players to take at a position. What I mean by that is they don't lock in to the idea that they need to take 2 OLBs, or 4 O-lineman, etc, etc. I'm pretty sure they didn't plan on taking 5 D-lineman and only 1 DB last year, but that's what they got based on who committed. They're smart enough to keep recruiting and not turn away talent because they are already "filled" at a certain position.

I think they would absolutely make room for Pinkney regardless of whether Register commits...

Looking at 24/7 DL Mose Hall is no longer listed as visiting and I believe he had been listed for next weekend so not sure what the situation is there.

Really like the kid's highlights. He doesn't look 6'4'' though.

Nope not a gopher commit...i wish he was of course....too short, 5'10" 275 OG starter for a couple of years on a 6A 2013 State Championship team...but we watch as much Indiana high school football as we can. Indianapolis Metropolitan Conference usually ranks about 7th best conference in the nation for public schools / Ben Davis, Center Grove, Carmel, Warren Central. I try to tell all the players at WC never ever play for a team with red in it...IU, Nebraska, tOSU, Shunks...so i try to help the Gophers out at all times. Most people around indy dont like my Gopher wear but oh well. Thanx and have a good day. Any questions about Indy players just ask and i will let you know what i can.

Great, great post.

Yeah, he looks pretty good.

Looks like Pinkney might have been a Nebraska lean (his only visit to this point) before they fired Pelini.

What position is Jones expected to play?

You sure he's expected at OLB, or are you thinking of J. Jones? Pinkney is already 6'5 240...

Edit: my bad I read your post too quickly.

All of these recent offers have me pretty excited to see what the 2016 class could look like with a full year to try to capitalize on our recent success. With that said, I wonder how many of these higher caliber recruits we actually have a shot with when we offer this late.
