Bo Pelini fired.

A winning record every year and a couple BCS bowls per decade? Yeah, that must suck.

Or 4-8, 6-6, 6-7.... Herky and their $4 million coach will be spending their holidays in Shreveport or El Paso or something this year. LOL

I think most Nebraska fans don't expect them to get back to the 90's dominance, but they do expect them to win a conference title more than once every 15 years. Pelini was given everything he asked for from a facility and resource standpoint but in the end was fired because of his public persona and because of his record against the teams that mattered as the AD said.

26-25 against teams that finished above .500
40-2 against teams that finished below .500

He wasn't a jerk.

He just looked like a jerk.

Bingo. Great football guy. Really solid defensive X-and-0 guy. He won't be out of work long.

Still and all, he just couldn't get all that talent to move in one direction consistently. Add to that he's not exactly Mr. Warm N. Fuzzy off the field and this isn't that much of a surprise.

Well if Nebraska and Oklahoma had balls and any sense of tradition, that would be a non-conference game every year.

Could not agree more and that should be a given every year.

Tough on recruits that have committed there

and we should give them all a friendly ring and say hello. something like: "why hello young man. did you happen to see our games against NE the last two years? gonna look like that between MN & NE for the foreseeable future and we have some great new facilities on the way. now when is the soonest you can come visit minneapolis?" :)

3. Jerry Kill, Minnesota head coach
The Kansan is highly respected in the profession. Kill and Kansas State’s Bill Snyder get the most out of the least. Not unlike K-State, jobs in the middle of America lean hard on player development. Kill knows the league, having won eight games in consecutive seasons at Minnesota. That includes wins against Nebraska in 2013 and 2014. With more resources and, in theory, more talented players, Kill would fare well at NU. The unfortunate concerns for Kill, 53, are health-related. Seizures forced him to take a leave of absence during the 2013 season. There would be risk for Nebraska, knowing there’s always the chance that Kill might have to unexpectedly retire at a moment’s notice.

From what I can gather at least 3 recruits have already decommitted.

Just saw this on ESPN

"In fact, no coach in the history of a Power 5 program had been fired for on-field performance after winning as many games in his first seven years. Only Alabama and Oregon -- first and second this week in the College Football Playoff rankings -- can match the Huskers in winning nine games each year since 2008."

This is not an attempt to scare people about Kill leaving, because I'm thinking he's staying due to the loyalty, etc. He also doesn't seem to be the fit for a much bigger program, but if he were to leave, this would be the year.

1. His stock is as high as it's going to get. Coach on the rise in an large conference.
2. Quality jobs should be available. (Nebraska, Michigan, Florida).
3. The Nebraska job would be closer to Kansas
4. Even the Kansas job is open if that was really important to him.

So what I'm saying and thinking is that if he stays, the should put to rest a lot of the talk about him going somewhere else for good, shouldn't it?

Just a general comment and not directed at anyone in particular, but not sure why some people seem to think he may be itching to be closer to the state of Kansas so badly. i.e. Have seen that line of thinking/commentary thrown around from time to time. I know he loves his home state, just like most of us love our home states or at least think of them fondly, but I don't get the vibe and never have that it is someplace he is yearning to be back in or near for any specific reason. Again, just my two cents from my own observations.

As much as I never cared for Sweater Boy, Jim Tressel would be a fantastic hire for Nebraska.

Agreed, but I thought I read somewhere that there may still be some NCAA sanctions tied to Tressel that wouldn't allow for Nebraska to even consider him in the first place.

Did anyone read Eichhorst's presser comments? This guy is deadly serious. I think if he makes a run at Kill we could have a problem on our hands. NT & deep pockets alums need to act now and not wait and hope to be offered the luxury of countering.

We'd likely have a lot of ground to make up. Rivals doesn't know everything, but I looked at their list of commits and only one--gigantic OT Christian Gaylord (6-7, 290) from Baldwin City, KS--had an offer from us. Doesn't mean we couldn't open up some aggressive contact when it's allowed, but we'd be playing make-up with most of these guys.

Nothing wrong with at least making an effort imo. Certainly can't hurt.

I'd take him but he would have to sit out a year correct? He fits our style pretty well

I believe that since it's a transfer within the conference he'd have to sit a year and also would lose a year of eligibility.

Oh no! What will become of Faux Pelini?

Not sure why Craig Bohl is on many of these lists. He was at Nebraska for quite awhile , but wasn't he basically run out of town during one of the purges late in the Callahan era ?

I'm hearing some steam that Mack Brown is under serious consideration.

From all reports the players loved him and I think it was part of the problem. A bit of a us against the world mentality. The guy did not beat anyone. He's a good coach, but did not win anything and got destroyed when it counted.

Very parallel to Glen Mason. Yes more wins, but fed off non conference and sub .500 conference teams and had a poor relationship with media, fans, and possibly administration.
