6-3!!!!

The women looked in control basically from the start today. BU put up a good fight, but the Gophers were clearly the better team and were very impressive in all areas today.

Even when BU cut into the lead in the third, never got the feeling the ladies were in any danger. An excellent way to cap the first undefeated season in NCAA women's hockey history!!!!

Fantastic atmosphere today at Ridder. Great to see the women take the championship in style and a wonderful experience for my daughter and family to enjoy.
 

Incredible team. Did anybody try picking up tickets on the street today. I went with the webcast but am curious what the scalping situation was like.

When we were walking in there were people desperate to get tickets, but no one was willing to give up the chance to see 41-0 and a National Championship. Ridder was standing room only and rocking.
 

What a team! Don't think I have the superlatives to do it justice. Ski U Mah, Ladies! You rock!

So much focus on perfection, in fact, that I swear to Thor there was a fellow in the crowd identical to Gary Anderson in appearance. Turned out, this was more a tribute to Minnesota’s Nordic heritage than a troubling coincidence.

Pressure had no chance against this U of M hockey machine. The Gophers scored the first two goals and had to sweat little in a 6-3 victory. Make it back-to-back titles, 41-0 and 49 straight.

“We were able finally to be relaxed,” defender Megan Bozek said. “There was a lot of pressure on us to get to the Frozen Four in our arena, and to the national title game. Today, we played our game.”

The only other perfect seasons in all of college hockey was Cornell's men's team, which went 29-0 in 1970, and Bemidji State's men's team, which went 31-0 in D-II in 1984.

I took it for granted that tickets would be available, but they sold out fast. I considered trying to get tickets from a scalper, but it looks like very few people were willing to sell their tickets. One person on Craigslist was trying to sell them for $250 per ticket. Another wanted $75 each.

A season for the history books. Best ever women's team.
 



Don't forget about the 18-0 Natl AAU Titleist 1940 Men's Gopher Hockey team.

Undefeated is undefeated. But don't get me wrong, 41-0 vs 18-0, says plenty. And thing is, that 41-0 was preceeded by an 8-0, and is still ongoing. It's at 49 and could keep going come next season?! Here's hoping it does!!!
 

Absolutely unbelievable. Kudos from BU for continuing to try to fight back, but they were no match. These girls are one of the greatest Gopher teams ever. Some of the most fun I have ever had at a sporting event.
