1) Will be meeting with some high school juniors/recruits that are visiting the U this weekend. For that reason his segment on the Sports Huddle was abbreviated.
2) He flew out to Mt. Pleasant, Michigan Friday night. He participated in a Nike football clinic. He said he loves talking football and sharing ideas. Looking forward to the Minnesota high school clinic during spring drills.
3) Minnesota offensive staff has been at TCU this past week visiting with their offensive staff and the defensive staff has been visiting Mississippi State University and Alabama, where the staff has built relationships. They're at the schools to learn and get more ideas and improve their coaching and improve the team.
4) Talked briefly about his longtime relationship (personal and coaching) with TCU head coach, Gary Patterson.
5) His philosophy about being on-time: "We want to make them better men for the real world." (If the meeting is scheduled for 6:00 a.m., you should be there at 5:55 a.m.)
6) Academics: "We're staying on top of them . . . we're seeing some improvement . . . we'll know more after the semester (long haul) and spring ball."
7) Winter drills: "We've been trying to make them better athletes. We've seen a change in their bodies." Coaches and players are looking forward to the spring break.
8) Talked about cancer fund raising efforts (cancer research and assistance for cancer victims). He saluted his wife for her organizational efforts. An event will take place soon at northern Illinois. Also talked about the importance of giving back to the community. Has been impressed with the Mpls community in giving back to others.
