Thought it might be a short, rough, night for Ober. But, to his credit, worked out of no out jams the 1st 2 innings and got better as game went on.

Funderburk was on the Opening Day Roster, he's one of 2 on the Roster now, so "survived" in that aspect. However, has spent a few weeks in St Paul.

Was simply relaying an interesting factoid, to me, which I heard on the radio broadcast.

yes, I’m aware of that and neither I nor the radio folks who mentioned it said he was with the team the whole year. My original post said to “start the season,” never saying or implying he had been on the active roster the whole season.

The comment was meant to be illustrative of the personnel changes that unit has gone through in a quest to improve; akin to having a completely different starting infield now, than on opening day, which was also mentioned - as Shelton/staff and the place bought into being uber flexible to benefit the team. Furthermore, they think it’s a testament to his communication style and part of the reason for the success, To me this illustrates that the sum is greater than its parts - the beauty of team sports

In my first sales job, my boss used to say to me constantly, “Don’t major in the minors,” jinan attempt for me to not focus on the imperfect minutiae - thst message resonated so much with me that I remember it clearly 45 years later as I take my morning deuce🥸.

They’re equally capable of of losing 11 in a row, as prio to this streak their offense was one of the worst in the bigs. Hopefully they revert to the mean.

My point was simply illustrating that only Taylor Rogers has remained in the Twins Bullpen without interruption from Opening Day through the All Star Break.

I’m surprised you didn’t lead with that then😉. As I get older, I realize the wisdom of “both/and” vs. “either/or”; there’s much more room for inclusivity than we give the universe credit for, in my experience😊.

I have to admit, the old M hat is on my very short list of the worst MLB hats ever. Like the grey uniforms, though, so I’m partially with you.
 

Hard to understand the pitch selection against the no. 9 hitter: 0-2 count on fastballs then three consecutive breaking balls—two balls to even the count and then missed location for a two run double.
 




The Twins not knowing what to do on the base path. had a chance with bases loaded and no outs and into a double play.
 






Huge start tomorrow for Joe Ryan tomorrow having been given an extra day’s rest for a divisional opponent—a sensible decision but at the cost of eliminating almost any chance to win today.

Why??

FWIW -

Zebby had 7 QS going into today’s tilt, third behind Taj’s 8 and Joe’s 11. 7 out of 11 starts is very consistent and good. Cubs are #1 seed in NL wildcard & PCA has the second highest WAR in MLB, behind Shoei.

He hasn’t been putting anyone away when having them 0-2; he’s got to get more chases and not throw 0-2 in the zone.

We also can’t give free outs to a likely playoff team.

Sands is at St.Paul now, so barring a setback, he should be back in the next week or so, I’m guessing.

Hopefully Buck is back tomorrow to give us a boost

Tuesday is a TBD starter; they speculated it will be a Paredes/Rijas effort as Prielipp still on the IL with the blister.

We need a stellar effort tomorrow😃

According to USA Today, both teams had scouts at Wrigley Field over the weekend to watch catcher Ryan Jeffers, who recently returned from a fractured hamate bone in his left hand. Jeffers homered for the first time since his injury on Friday and owns a .941 OPS this season.
He’s a coveted option for catcher-needy teams like the Yankees and Rays, but the Twins are reportedly still deciding whether to buy or sell. They sit two games out in the AL Wild Card race at 49-51 after losing two of three to the Cubs.

I don't understand the need in todays world to send scouts to watch a MLB guy play. Especially a veteran like Jeffers.
