Gophers departing senior Cade Tyson, the team’s leading scorer, will participate in the 72nd-annual Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, April 15-18 in Portsmouth, Virginia. Tyson is one of 64 men’s basketball seniors selected for the event, which is a showcase for pro basketball scouts.

Go Gophers!!

Tyson has a chance to get drafted. ESPN and The Athletic rank him just outside the second round.
There are some guys who invest a lot of time into this stuff who have him at the end of the 1st round.
Some notes from one of them:

Minnesota’s Cade Tyson is one of the most underrated prospects in the 2026 NBA Draft.

Tyson was one of the most efficient players in the country where he averaged averaged 20/5/2 on a 50/41/82 splits.

Tyson’s mix of high level cutting, shooting, finishing, and connective passing at 6’7 makes him an extremely valuable wing. Tyson has elite instincts as a cutter where he finished in the 97th percentile while also being a strong driver at the rim who can finish through contact and draw fouls. Tyson is also great at getting to his spots on his own. As a shooter Tyson was one of the most efficient spot up shooters in the country where he ranked in the 97th percentile and he’s also a skilled connective passer.

Tyson was the also only High Major player in college basketball this season to shoot 70% at the rim on 100 attempts, and 40% from three on 100 attempts.

I never even considered that he'd have a shot to get drafted.

Cade Tyson played in Portsmouth. He averaged 11.7 ppg. They had 10 guys on the All Tournament team, Tyson was not one of them. Totally guessing...if they had a third team he may have been on it.

Tyson has apparently entered the portal even though he is supposedly ineligible for further play in the NCAA.

A lot of these guys sign with a team right after the draft

Tyson just entered the portal, he is betting the ncaa will grant a fifth year of eligibility for every athlete and grandfather him in. They are actually talking about it. Now wouldn’t that be sweet if he came back for one more year.

These guys have to enter the portal and find that bag somewhere, Seth Trimble did the same thing for UNC. Hopefully Niko can get our boosters to pay Cade if he comes back looking for money... otherwise he might play elsewhere

What if the reason we haven't signed another portal transfer yet, is because we're saving that money to put toward Cade in case he gets a 5th year?

It'll be interesting to watch how this plays out. The longer it goes without us signing another player, the more im going to think it's a possibility.

That would be amazing. Would really sting to see him in another college jersey. I really hope he has a good relationship with Niko after recovering his talents

If he is eligible, and the gophers can keep him, that would be a really good thing
