All Things 2026 Minnesota Vikings Off-Season Thread

Wayne has done it a bunch already, or at least a few times I can recall. It takes some physical attributes that Wayne likely no longer has as well. Carrot Top, Donnie Osmond, the Backstreet Boys, et al. You name it, if you're a national personality from LV, they've probably asked you to ring the siren
One of my great regrets is not seeing Wayne in concert while he was still active.

He’s still with us at 84 which is great - a true icon.

No idea why I remembered this, but Wayne Newton was one of the final live acts that played the Carlton Celebrity Room across from Met Stadium. 5 night residency, May 20-24, 1987.

Thanks.
Always wanted to go there.

Did you ever see anyone there?

Don Rickey’s there would have been perfect😎

No, I never did. I was only 18 when it shut down, so before my time.

My parents saw a few performances there though.

Vikes are trading Greenard and JJM in a package to move up to 5th pick in the 1st round

No Pressure 🤣🤣🤣🤣

How bad has the Vilkings draft been?
Worse than you could likely imagine (from Lewis’ article today) -

Minnesota’s roster currently contains two players who were drafted in the second round, three who were drafted in the third round and one who was drafted in the fourth round. To summarize, six of the 61 players on the Vikings’ roster were selected in what is typically viewed as the meat of the draft, the fewest of any team in the NFL by a wide margin

Yeah but remember those udfas we got? /s

This time last year the mn sports media was telling us that JJ McCarthy was on track to being a 2025 season top 10 qb.

I think Harry will be back for one more season anc the Vikings know this by now; do yes we still need his replacement, but not because he isn’t under contract.

From The Athletic

18. Minnesota Vikings: Dillon Thieneman, S, Oregon

With Harrison Smith no longer under contract, the Vikings will be looking to replace his playmaking ability on the back end. Those are big shoes to fill, but Thieneman has the versatile skill set to make an immediate impact.

I am sure he is coming back but gamesmanship for the draft has him undecided.

I think Thieneman is the most likely choice by the Vikings. The Cowboys also covet him at #20 so they could be a team to watch that might move ahead of us.

I'd be happier with his teammate, Sadiq the TE. I don't know if they know what they are talking about but I've seen more than one person say that the Oregon Safety doesn't REALLY fit what Flores wants from that position. The whole league sure thinks it's happening though.

We finally get to find out tonight

Sadiq is easily my favorite choice. He's an elite TE receiving prospect with tremendous speed. Hockenson has never recovered from his injuries and is on the last year if his deal.

At #18, I want the most talented player rather than trying to fill a hole. That's what FA is supposed to be for. This is a crucial Draft for the Vikings IMO.

I would absolutely love to seee them trade TJ Hok and draft Sadiq. Save the cash, get someone with ball skills. TJ is a blocker, but his catching, route running, rec awareness, are subpar. He just relies on his size.

Agreed. They need depth practically everywhere. Just take the BPA. I'm pretty sure Harrison Smith is coming back, so safety is a need at some point in the draft but it's not necessary in round 1 if better options are available.

Ok, Harrison Smith came on in the last 4 games or so. I will give him that.

The guy was invisible the other games, always late on the play and didn't really want to tackle.

Just retire!

Smith missed most of training camp and the first few weeks of the season with a "health issue" not an injury.

Perhaps that impacted his performance as the Vikings struggled to a 4-8 start.

He has been slow and not able to get there for going on 3 years.

Package Greenard and JJ Mac and I think you can trade up to a pick between 6th thru 10. Tossin the 18th pick and you may be able to gain a pick 3 thru 5

I'd suggest @Ope3 but I'm guessing white hot seething hatred for the future bosses would be held against him unfairly.

Hiring me for any Draft input would be on brand for the Current Vikings Ownership.

To pick who?
Demetryius Love. My dream will die in about 3.5 hours. The only question is if ARI takes him or trades down so TEN can nab him.

I'll happily take his ND understudy (Jadarian Price) in the 2nd Round.
