All Things 2026 Minnesota Vikings Off-Season Thread

Also, I clicked on a Matthew Coller purple insider podcast. 3 hours? I didn’t listen to it but now I know folks are making stuff up.

✅ Bottom line:
Kevin O’Connell has been dominant vs. the Packers (5–1) since taking over in 2022, including multiple season sweeps in 2024 and 2025.

📊 Kevin O’Connell vs. Packers
  • Record: 5–1
  • Winning %: .833
🧾 Breakdown by season
  • 2022: Split 1–1 (first year as head coach)
  • 2023: Split 1–1 (including a loss at Green Bay)
  • 2024: Swept 2–0 (both close wins)
  • 2025: Swept 2–0 (including late-season win)
  • O’Connell has generally handled Green Bay better than most Vikings coaches in recent history.
  • Several of these wins have been one-score games, which fits his reputation for winning close matchups.

For Ogie:

The Ringer’s Todd McShay reports that “someone in the Cardinals’ building is pushing really, really hard” to draft Notre Dame RB Jeremiyah Love.

The unnamed individual is said to be someone “who has a say” in what the Cardinals do with the No. 3 overall pick in this year’s draft. McShay notes the Cardinals are also candidates to trade back a couple of spots to potentially draft Love, though “they still need an offensive tackle [and] they still need an EDGE.”

Rotational players like former starter RB James Conner, who suffered a season-ending ankle injury last year, and free agent signee, RB Tyler Allgeier, crowd the Cardinals’ backfield. The combo could keep Love from handling an elite rookie season workload, but they are unlikely to prevent him from winning the starting role this summer. He would likely warrant RB2 treatment right away if the Cardinals were to draft him early in the first round.

First, I wouldn't HATE it; he's an absolutely elite talent and they aren't playing for this year anyway. But I highly doubt it.

It's Lying Season, and I think the Cardinals want to trade down more than anyone in the top part of the draft. They want to drum up as much interest for the #3 pick as possible. So many people have mocked them to pick an OL like Mauigoa at #3 and there isn't an OL, at least from most of the folks I've read and trust, worthy of being picked in the top 8 or even 10.

I think the Cards want someone who wants Love to move up to #3. This is all smoke, I have to believe. Good grief, they are getting James Conner back from injury this season (older but a best and great red zone runner), they signed Tyler Allgeier a few weeks ago, and they still have Trey Benson who they like. The RB is the least of their concerns.

I would be deeply disappointed if the Cardinals stayed put and drafted Mauigoa (or any other OL) at #3. If you can't move down, take the best remaining DL/Edge and be happy.

The multiple nicknames for Justin Jefferson is so mn. JJ, or Jets or Jetta or Jettas or JJettas. What is this mess?

More messy MN chat. Don’t go making the cap guy the GM. That drops you right back into right guy wrong job. Come on MN, you are smarter than all this.

I see no indication that the Wilfs "are smarter than all this". 21 years of evidence.

Got a link to something to something reputable talking about or making that claim?

The GM decision is not going to get any attention until after the draft, which is how it should be.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the Giants and DT Dexter Lawrence “have reached an impasse” on a new contract extension.

Lawrence has been looking for a contract extension this offseason, but he and the Giants have been unable to reach an agreement and the 28-year-old requested a trade. Giants general manager Joe Schoen addressed Lawrence’s trade request, saying he would like to keep the star defensive tackle.

However, Rapoport reports contract talks “have reached an impasse” and that “the Giants have engaged with teams on a potential trade.” The NFL Draft at the end of April will be a key deadline for Schoen to explore trades for Lawrence.

Former Viking Jailen Nailor already making his presence felt in Vegas and making some noise. Cool to see. I think he is going to take a big step forward this year with the Raiders.

Don’t have running water in Philbrook?

Or is this a cry for help?

He's a very good player but I would never trade a Top 10 pick with a Rookie contract for a 28-year old veteran seeking a monster deal but that's just me.

What a great return for the NYG who had already decided not re-sign Lawrence.

Yup, I was surprised it was thst high also. It only takes one and hope Philly is ours fri Greenard.

Harbaugh will have them in the playoffs next year

The trade rumors about Greenard have been pretty quiet lately but if we could get a 2nd to move him, I'm all for it based on how well Turner appears to be progressing.

This wouldn't surprise me at all. I'm a huge fan of Dart and expect big things from him this year if he can stay healthy. I also think Harbaugh would really like to draft Love to give him a quality running game even though Skattebo, Tracy and Singletary were decent for them last season.

Im a big Skattebo fan. If he's healthy. I think he can carry the load for them and they can use the draft pick on other areas of need (of which there are plenty).

I'm a big Skattebo fan, too, but the severity of the injuries he suffered last season were extreme for a RB. Hopefully he's able to come back 100%.

You need 2 RBs in the true Harbaugh style imo

All you need to do is hit the right amount of luck with the right amount of talent = win the Super Bowl once, and nothing else matters.

I'm not convinced that the endless chess match of trying to have players on rookie contracts works anywhere near as well as it is purported to work out.

Certainly hasn't so far under McCarthy.

Was Wayne Newton busy🤔

Wayne has done it a bunch already, or at least a few times I can recall. It takes some physical attributes that Wayne likely no longer has as well. Carrot Top, Donnie Osmond, the Backstreet Boys, et al. You name it, if you're a national personality from LV, they've probably asked you to ring the siren
