When Groves committed to Minnesota in offices at the basketball practice facility, he was surrounded by U coaches — Medved, assistants Brian Cooley, Dave Thorson and others. They called up Wohler and put him on speaker.

“He was so excited,” Groves said. “… It was a full-circle moment. He was a Gopher. He was my high school coach and then I was a Gopher. So yeah, that was a pretty cool.”

They were loaded with guards. Early in the season they had some injuries, Toppin was out and they played him like a power forward and he got 16 boards against Lindenwood.

Yeah, not too hard to figure out.....true freshman on a good team....minutes can be tough to come by unless you are an elite player.

Grant McCasland is a good coach, so regardless of how Groves minutes went, hopefully it was a good learning year. That video should make us all drool.

Glad to have him in the fold...and well.. stuff like this excites me... Won't be a Tyson replacement year 1.. but if he can be counted on for 12 every night... Is staying for the foreseeable future.. This could turn out fantastic over the next few seasons..
If this our peak.. I will be disappointed.. but solid piece and let's see what else can be done

Of last year's roster, possibly only Tyson would have a chance to start at Texas Tech last year. The roster was so much better than ours, and definitely twice as athletic.
