All Things 2025-2026 Minnesota Timberwolves In-Season Thread

This team is a joke
Because we lost to a playoff team that’s 17-5 in their last 22 and battling to get out of the playin while missing 2 of our starters in a game that largely doesn’t matter for us right now and they chose to rest ant like you asked?

They’re not a serious team because of who their 2 stars are. Nothing has changed that nor will change that unless you move Randle and get a robin who will rein in 🐜

They still.could have won this game, but the team makes so many low IQ plays and Finch is so bad. You could tell this wasnt a game for slo mo but Finch kept throwing him out there until it was too late

This might be the answer to many of the issues

maybe? Do agree that someone does need to unlock Ant further (particularly on the defensive end, though he does ramp that up in certain games and in playoffs).

The roster construction is still a problem with this assortment of players with the top 5 guys basically hubbing us above the 1st apron. Having your 2 "stars" be ass defensively makes you dependent on having Rudy to mop up in the paint.

Maybe a guy like Cassell could be that, but it's going to start with Connelly blowing up the roster and if you're going that direction, probably makes sense to look at a different coach too

If will be interesting to see if Connelly has warn out his welcome as well🤷‍♂️

I can’t see Finch surviving unless they make it to the conference finals again.

There have been innumerable articles about flipping the switch for the playoffs and that isn’t something to be proud and boastful about,

Kobe shot three airballs at the end of an elimination game against Utah in SLC, the first year he & Shaq were together; when they got back to LA that night, it was an afternoon tilt, he found a gym and shot till the morning making sure that would never happen again - he’s a unicorn with that type of drive, but you gotta be on that side of the ledger vs. flipping the switch in order to get to another level.

I want a championship pedigree in that locker room - we need a Sherpa.

Probable Starters

Pacers: G - Quenton Jackson, G - Ethan Thompson, F - Kobe Brown, F - Jalen Slawson, C - Micah Potter

Injury Report

Pacers: Obi Toppin - probable (right foot injury management), Ben Sheppard - questionable (right hip strain), Jarace Walker - questionable (sacral contusion), Johnny Furphy - out (torn right ACL), Tyrese Haliburton - out (right Achilles tendon tear), T.J. McConnell - out (bilateral hamstring injury management), Andrew Nembhard - out (thoracic and lumbar injury management), Aaron Nesmith - out (cervical strain), Pascal Siakam - out (left ankle sprain), Ivica Zubac - out (rib fracture)

If we can't beat this squad.........

Well, Denver and Minnesota. Hope everyone is healthy. Was holding out hope LA would hang on to the 3 seed. Too much to ask for.

Yeah even if he’s not part of the playoff rotation, there is zero downside
He decided early on that Dilly couldn't play and he was right. We have no idea with Berenger. What we do know is Finch has given Berenger no chance to grow.

The front office talked a huge game about Berenger. In retrospect it looks silly. I'll bet he hasn't played 30 non garbage minutes this year.

And held up well in those non garbage minutes.

Finch Just has no patience for mistakes by non-rotation guys

The night of the draft I thought they should have gone Walter Clayton. They needed a PG to replace Conley and they needed scoring help. He fell right in their lap and they got cute with it. It looks like Clayton hasn't been lighting the world on fire but he has a couple good games then mixes a bad one in there.

3 fouls in 7min for berenger tonight
I watched one shift of Berenger last night. I don't know if he got back in. It's a cliche but he looks like he's two years away from being two years away. That's entirely on the wolves. They probably shouldn't have drafted him. Having drafted him they compounded the mistake by not developing him. They should have either played him ten minutes a night and lived with the growing pains or sent him to Iowa for the season.

Finally, Zikarsky has some skills. He's slow as hell but he can shoot, pass and rebound. He also appears to be court aware. He's also huge.

This is two drafts in a row that Connelly has outsmarted himself.

Joan was the right pick. Finch isn't the right coach to develop him

You could certainly be correct, (you are on Rob) but might be a little early on Joan. Sure hope so.

I'm not nearly as negative on Finch as you and NYC. Joan doesn't look like he can match up with 10 minute a night big men who are on shitty teams. He sets picks, rolls to the rim, doesn't get open and gets pushed around when he tries to board. He can block shots a little bit. That's about it. Finch obviously sees it too. It's not as if the Julius/Naz pairing when Rudy sat was particularly effective, especially on defense.

If DEN sits those guys, that tells us all we need to know about who they prefer to play in Round 1.
Suns at Lakers
Booker and Green out for the Suns
PHO has the 7 Seed locked up for the Play-in so I'm not shocked they are sitting those two (2) guys.

Absolutely no reason to play Ant, Jaden, Rudy or Naz again until the Playoffs begin.
