World Baseball Classic

Earl Anthony you ham-n-egger and Pete Webber.
My uncle owned a bowling alley and we were always huge Earl Anthony fans.

Mark Roth was the Ivan Lendl of the PBA and Marshall Holman always looked like "creepy molester guy" with the worst wardrobe in the league which is truly saying something for that sport.

Amazing now to think they had a contract with ABC (IIRC).

The PBA used to have a stop in Long Island, so my buddy/teammate from the bowling team decided to check it out- we were very excited😎.

It started at 2 and we showed up at like 1:55 and the main metal bleachers directly behind the lanes were completely full, so we went to the bleachers on the right which were empty, except for the Gecko and a couple of gals repping Progressive - in front of them were two massive/luxurious Barcaloungers.

After the first game, the gals look at each other and say we’re done, and they and the Gecko left, as they were there to give freebies before the match.

My buddy and I look at each other and laughed and went to the Barcaloungers to watch the rest of the match. THAT was a GREAT DAY😃

There’s a legit chance the US is done if they lose this game.

DeRosa thought the US had clinched already. If Mexico beats Italy today and scores fewer than 5 runs in the win, the US is eliminated.

It’s kinda embarrassing how little the Americans seem to care about these games compared to others. This Venezuela-Japan game is great.

From Matthew Leach’s newsletter/column today a he’s the Twins MLB beat writer.

Saturday, March 14

Ryan throws his bullpen, tells reporters he feels good and acknowledges that the bullpen means he would not be available to pitch before the final. Shortly after the throw, a Twins official tells reporters that Ryan will be staying in camp rather than going to Miami to join Team USA, with at least some of the reasoning being that the American team wants a true reliever since its pitching needs will be in relief. Minnesota manager Derek Shelton confirms that Ryan will start for the Twins early next week.

I feel a legendary Skenes performance coming tonight. Let's go USA.

The hitting continues to be a major disappointment for the US.
In general yes but 7-22 tonight with a HR robbery I don't think the bats have been too bad tonight. That said the third inning where we had 2 runners on and Judge and Schwarber were K'd might end up coming back to bite the good guys.

Yeah my comment was just after the two Ks and before the HRs. They largely have not faced great pitchers in the tournament.

Fun game, but that umpire was awful. Strike zone was all over the place.
