All Things 2025-26 Other College Basketball Games Thread

Okay I'm confused, why did Utah Valley owe $1 million to play in their own conference tournament? I thought they wouldn't play unless the conference paid them $1million

Don’t look now but Santa Clara might be messing up the bracket by taking down Gonzaga

It’s an exit fee. They’re leaving the conference and that’s what a school is supposed to pay if leaving apparently.

Hofstra, Long Island, Wright St., and Siena (1st time since FranCon left) all dancing. Hofstra coached by Speedy Claxton, Long Island coached by Rod Strickland. Both 1st round draft picks in the NBA.

EDIT: Siena also currently coached by former Syracuse star and NCAA tournament champion Gerry McNamara.

Hmm- I guess I have to take you guys' word for it. Statistically he doesn't scream of great shooting- he is a 33.9% 3 point shooter and rates very poorly as a defender on Evan Miya's advanced stats.
I’m skeptical as well. He’s certainly an entertaining player to watch and can provide some instant offense, but he reminds me a bit of Caleb Williams who lit up the Gophers in the Macalester exhibition game a few years ago, but wasn’t able to crack the Gopher rotation last year. Defense at his size might limit his potential to play at the high-major level.

It will be interesting to see if he tries out the portal this early in his college career.

Dead man walking Hurley really giving it to Iowa State.
Lost 91-42. Damn, if you’re gonna go out, go out with your pants around your ankles, I guess. Looks like while the Hurley smug asshole gene was divided evenly between Bobby and Dan, Bobby got all the good player genes while Dan got all the good coaching genes from their dad.

And lost on that weird glass court

No tickets to the big dance to be punched today, not even any conference semifinals as far as I can tell ☹️

I'll be rooting against every bubble team! Even in the games that feature two bubble teams!

So i was looking back at previous seasons and it looks like this is the fourth time in 20 years both the basketball team and hockey team won't be in the postseason.

So, curious, who have you rooted for in the past during these seasons and who has your interest this year? I'm interested in the Miami OH story, I'd like them to make a good run. I'm also kind of wanting the Big Ten to end either or both title droughts. Funny enough Michigan State is the last one to win a championship in either sport (1999 for basketball and 2007 for hockey).

My rule is mainly just rooting for my bracket selections in basketball and anybody but Wisconsin and North Dakota in hockey.
