All Things 2025-26 Minnesota Wild Season Thread

Zucc makes it 2-0 on the power play

The Minnesota Wild acquired defenseman Jeff Petry from the Florida Panthers for a conditional seventh-round pick in 2026, the teams announced Thursday.

The pick is upgraded to a fifth-rounder if Minnesota wins two playoff rounds and Petry plays in 50% or more of those games.

Petry is a pending unrestricted free agent and carries a $775,000 cap hit. The 38-year-old joined the Panthers last summer and notched eight points in 58 games this season while averaging under 15 minutes per contest.

Weird timing with BG seemingly backing off of Trocheck sweepstakes
it not BG. it the Rangers that need to back off on the asking price. We still in on the Tocheck Sweepstakes. it just need for the Rangers to lower there asking price. I think in the end the Wild will find a way to get the Trocheck trade done.

It sounds like the asking price for Trocheck is through the roof. I have to say, I don't understand spending a 2nd Round Pick on a 4th line guy like McCarron.

It's a Seller's market right now. No reason for the Rangers to lower their price, at least not until maybe the 11th hour.

The rangers own his rights for years. They have no reason to drop the ask with the Blues asking for 3FRPs for Thomas as well. For the rangers, high end centers will continue to be in shortage in the offseason and next deadline and they still have his rights past then

Problem is our pick situation is so tough and we just don’t have a lot of great assets. Think it’s smart of Billy to back off and say no we’re not going there.

What’s your opinion on one of the other named Centers? Like O’Reilly? Anyone worth watching?

The Minnesota Wild are acquiring forward Bobby Brink from the Philadelphia Flyers for defenseman David Jiricek, reports ESPN's Emily Kaplan.

Brink, 24, has 13 goals and 26 points in 55 games.

Jiricek has primarily played in the AHL this season. The 22-year-old was drafted sixth overall in 2022.
bobby brink finally to minnesota confirmed (if you follow gopher hockey, you'll know)

i mean we need a 1C. So no one really fits that model that's out there (that's affordable with our current asset pool) nor fits well on a first line, but multiple are upgrades from Hartman. Trocheck I think fits best, but NYR have been pretty consistent with saying they're retooling not rebuilding so I think the ask is going to be really steep. The blues have been the same with thomas and a team like Detroit or buffalo is going to have more options to move (and more incentive) than we will

I don't really think getting OReilly would move the needle. A guy like Stamkos adds the scoring they covet but again I don't think we have the assets given he's under contract for multiple years.

Won't be surprised to see a depth add, but you also have Stramel who BG really likes who will be an option to come in and play bottom 6 minutes/be one of your scratches as well

Brink's a pretty good player, but giving up on the 22-yr old Jiricek seems a tad premature. But you have to give up assets to get assets.

The Minnesota Wild are closing in on acquiring Chicago Blackhawks captain Nick Foligno, according to insider Frank Seravalli.

Foligno is a pending unrestricted free agent carrying a cap hit of $4.5 million. His brother, Marcus, has played for Minnesota the past nine seasons.

I don’t think Jiricek is an asset at this point…

He’s an offensive defenseman that provided little to no offense and commits bad turnovers on a regular basis.

When healthy what do the lines look like?

Still light on the top end but overly crowded on the bottom 6 and especially the 4th line now.

Seems like the top 6 will likely be some combination of Kaprizov, Hartman, Zuccarello, Boldy, JEEK, Johansson/Brink.

And some combination of Johansson/Brink, Yurov, Taraswnko, Foligno, Foligno, Trenin, McCarron, Sturm, Fabbri for the 3rd and 4th line?

Colorado definitely "in it to win it", adding to an already very good roster. Avs add Kadri and Nic Roy at the trade deadline, two very good pieces.

Trocheck doesn’t move. Thomas doesn’t move.

Perfectly fine with BG sitting given the asset level guys who did move went for

Avs top 3 C's:

Nathan McKinnon
Brock Nelson
Nazem Kadri

Yikes.

Nic Roy holding down the 4th line for them is legit as well. I'm partial, he's an original VGK player, but Roy was a big part of centering the 4th line for the VGK Stanley Cup run. As a 4th line Center, Roy will be one of the best in the postseason
