Braeden Carrington

And what about Winter? Can you imagine hating your father enough that you would spurn his team for the rival school? Something ain’t right with that young man.
Can you honestly say it was the wrong decision? Plus, there were a lot of people on this site - well, maybe it was one poster who liked to post the same thing over and over and over again - who felt he wasn't going to be much because he didn't think Trevor was much either. Even after his freshman year where he was a 8th or 9th man in the rotation, the prevailing sentiment here was that Winter was a bullet dodged. How many guys have we seen this pattern of growth with at Wisconsin?

Winter's skills fit the Wisconsin system like a glove, they wanted him, and they had a role for him to grow into. Minnesota under Johnson didn't even have a system. No-brainer.

The loss to Wisconsin last night falls squarely on the Williams Arena fans. When they booed every time Carrington touched the ball, I knew the game was over. If the Barn crowd had done nothing, Carrington would have bricked every shot he put up just when he was at The U. But noooo. We had to do the one thing that was certain to cause bad karma for the team (just like that f*cking "We Hate Iowa" chant).

Booing Carrington doesn't even make sense. He didn't do anything insulting when he left The U. He simply disappeared from a crappy Ben Johnson program--who would blame him. Not only that, why didn't anyone boo when Trevor Winter's kid touched the ball?

It is proof that Minnesota fans are clueless.
Because Trevor Winter's kid was never a Gopher and he didn't quit on his team half way through a year and pretend it was over "mental health" then turn his back on the coach who defended you in the media.

Carrington is a disloyal mental midget scumbag. I don't blame kids for wanting out of here during that time. I wouldn't boo Pharrell Payne - I get it. The way Carrington left the program was gross but I'm sure he'll still blame the U.

That poster has about 10 different screen names. Yes, he took exception to calling Trevor Winter an important piece of the Final 4 Team and a former NBA player. He also thought Kadyn Betts was going to be better than Winter. He is still posting here under at least 2 names.

As to your main point, you're right. There probably has never been a player whose skill set better fits a program than Nolan Winter and Wisconsin.

...calling Trevor Winter...a former NBA player.
I mean, that's an accurate statement, but...

Trevor Winter NBA stats: 1999, MN Timberwolves

Minutes: 5

No one argued he was a good NBA player but he certainly played in the NBA. The point of the conversation was whether or not Trevor Winter was an important part of Gopher basketball. He was the first big of the bench in the Final Four team and he had a cup of coffee in the NBA. There are a lot of Gopher greats who are probably jealous of that cup of coffee.

I'll give the combined NBA stats of Jordan Murphy, Nate Mason, Joey King, Vincent Grier, and Blake Hoffarber.

Settle down. I acknowledged that he was indeed an NBA player, just having a little fun.

I hope your weekend is as pleasant as you are.

If i remember it right, this was a game against Shaq......he was brought into the game specifically to "hack a Shaq" and send him to the FT line....

Weird response.

I wasn't even remotely riled up, I wasn't even aware there was any there was any tension here until I read this note.

There is no need to get in that little feminine passive aggressive dig in at the end either. We had a slight back and forth with absolutely zero tension where I didn't even remotely attack you.

I hope you have a great weekend too.

My take away from this is:

Bill Russell 25.5 rebounds per 48 minutes in NBA career
Trevor Winter 28.8 rebounds per 48 minutes in NBA career

Carrington had 9 threes yesterday and Wisconsin fans were making sure MN fans heard it. Carrington retweeting this. He clearly still has a lot of growing up to do. It’s all manufactured.

He’s a college senior whose trolling and he’ll never get a job in the Twin Cities ever, right El Sid😎.

The guy is averaging 8 points a game as a senior playing fewer minutes than he did as a true freshman. A career 3pt specialist who needs to shoot in volumes to be effective with a 33% career average.

Lots of misplaced/manufactured resentment for an immature dude that quit on his team multiple times.

Someone suggested the grudge is with the fan base because there was some criticism of him for being out partying a lot when he left the team his freshman year.

I don’t know if I believe that but the whole grudge makes zero sense to begin with so who knows. Either way, there would be criticism no matter where you’re at if you take a break in the middle of a season for mental health reasons and are then seen out partying a bunch.

Funny flex

He’s not a starter at wisconsin and wouldn’t be a starter here even with this depleted roster

And the vast majority of those makes vs Washington came when wisconsin was up 20+ points

Clutch

Never a Carrington fan.. documented my thoughts here.. Especially because he and Ola Joseph got in Payne’s head and got Payne out of here. Besides not liking his game I was more pissed about that... BUT talk about him all you want but he balled against us and some people on here saying they won’t remember or he won’t be remembered? Come on?

I didn’t like his game and didn’t want him back.. reality flat out hooped are asses this year..

He took the leave of absence during his sophomore year and then left the team (on his own) after his sophomore year. After leaving the team and entering the portal and then finding out he had no good offers he begged to return to the Gophers and Ben J told him to take a hike, leaving him with the lone option of going to Tulsa. That's the rub for Carrington. That Ben J told him no.

Of course, Ben J was totally correct in telling him to take a hike.

But, the kid has to come up with some sort of disrespect card.

He's been good, but not great for Wisconsin. His two big games help his season percentages.

Good call. I thought it was his freshman year for some reason.

That still makes no sense as Ben isn’t the coach anymore.
