Gopher Softball 2026

This staff can’t develop players either. From what I saw I didn’t see any improvements from returning players. Five games in and I have already lost interest.

How we ever recruited Jess Oakland, I will never know. Didn't last long either

Watching the Gophers on ESPN+
I would bet most talented high school teams would beat this team on most nights. It’s truly a struggle. I don’t understand how this program has fallen this bad. We won first game against Idaho State and now in a close game against UTEP.
No hard contacts, pitching is at a D2 level, and outfield is extremely slow.
I don’t see many bigten wins. I hope I’m wrong.

If there’s a positive, the team is young besides Schwartz.

My question is if Ritter would ever retire or be forced to leave…who would take the job? In such a tough spot, do we care about the sport (department speaking…)? Would an alum come back and be ready for that? Would a summit league jump? Honestly Omaha and St Thomas both seem like better jobs at this point. Would a successful D2 coach even want to make that jump? Ugh…I miss great softball at the U.

I sure hope we’re not paying our 3rd base coach a lot of money. She just stands there, points, and makes terrible decisions. Atrocious.

Gophers split the day with a 11-4 win over New Mexico State.

4-5 on the season

If there’s any positives we’re extremely young. Freshman Kuhn could be special.
