Koi Perich Transfer Portal

My wife grew up in Eugene. She doesn't think that he will start for the Ducks. I think he will.

I'm a little rusty on NIL contracts...can they be performance-based? Example: $500,000 base regardless if Koi ever plays but with each win, each pick, each tackle, etc., he gets more money.

Going to Oregon will be either a great or a terrible decision for Perich due to heavy competition. They are loaded at safety even if their 3rd-year All American declares for the draft. Good luck.
Yup.....the other starting Safety will be a sophmore next year....have the #1 & #8 safety's coming in as freshman this fall. And are bringing in another transfer safety from Baylor who started for them 2 years ago but suffered an injury this past season

but with the schools that were looking at him he was going to be going into a battle no matter where he went.

wish him well.

I know this is 100% petty of me, but I’d prefer him never coming here vs coming here and leaving.

You’re either with us or against us. I bleed Maroon and Gold on Saturday and Purple on Sundays. You can’t burn one of my favorite teams and then have me welcome you to the next…. (Unless you get the Vikings cross that magical line to a Super Bowl.)
Amen. Well said sir

Good luck to him. 2024 was awesome and the pick against USC was so fun. Last year was underwhelming.

Hope he can have a great career at Oregon and we replace him just fine.

During games in a commercial break when they do the Gophers in the NFL promo on the scoreboard, does "Bucky Irving" get a shout out?

If Koi makes it, it would be an interesting crowd reaction.

He does not.

He does not.
Seems like pro team is still tied to a players final school regardless of where they stop along the way.

Maybe it has happened already but would be funny if an NFL player during prime time intros where they say their name and college would list off all the colleges they attended. Especially if there is a guy who ends up at 3 or 4 schools.

Honest question - what are the odds that Raiola is the starting QB at the end of the year next year?

Seems 50/50 that Moore declares for the draft or not, so less than 50/50? Until last weekend, I was going with the notion that Moore was a better prospect than Mendoza.

It’s odd to me how Moore seems to get a lot of balls batted against good teams.

Look up his height, he’s like 4-5 inches taller than I assumed based on the way he plays

I think Moore goes, it's a weaker QB class you still gotta think he goes in the top 10.

I get why Oregon took Raiola, he does have a special arm talent. But there are a lot of issues too. When is the last time he played somewhere that he wasn't coddled? He doesn't seem to play that well when faced with adversity and he holds onto the ball way too long.

At time, it felt like Raiola was bigger than the Nebraska program. He's not bigger than Oregon. They have Akili Smith's kid chomping at the bit and if Raiola has a game where he takes 5 sacks when he should have taken 1, he'll have competition.

It's probably good for him to go somewhere less incubated and the upside is through the roof for both the Ducks and Raiola, but I do think there is some chance - 25-40% that this goes sideways for him.

I was noticing this, I think it's because the good teams focus on this quite a bit with Oregon's quick passing game. We saw a little bit with Tanner Morgan (who unlike Moore was short). But maybe more important than being short, our RPO passing game made it really hard to get a sack, so some teams would focus on batting balls. Iowa did this quite a bit with Espenesa.

I think in situations where Oregon wasn't in 3rd and long, some defensive coordinators just played the passing lanes.

But yeah, I noticed that too, and I think it be a product of Oregon's quick passing game.

I am pretty sure they cannot, as that would be considered "pay to play". I think contracts can have clauses for things other than performance on the field (academic success, no off-field idiocy, etc).

Bucko does not.

I imagine Moore declares, but I wonder if he will be taking a pay cut to go pro having no idea what his NIL package looked like at Oregon. As Bob_Loblaw said, it's a really weak QB class and Moore and Mendoza likely go in the top ten (I think they probably would have been well below that the draft year of Williams, Maye, Daniels, McCarthy, Penix, and Nix). I don't know how to characterize Moore's game, but scrambling for a term I would call it "relaxed." There was a lot more urgency to Bo Nix's game and I wonder about both Moore's and Mendoza's arm talent (that said, I am sure they can throw a 40-yard spiral).

Like I said in a different thread yesterday, I am curious how Raiola fits in the Oregon offensive scheme unless he felt he was stunted at Nebraska and not allowed to play a more wide-open style. Raiola is clearly talented, but it could be a case of a million dollar arm and a ten-cent brain.

No, I don't think he does. It seems pretty general across the board you only claim the college you finished at.

Max Brosmer, Minnesota and even in the older days, Russell Wilson, Wisconsin.

Koi, thanks for your time but you are no longer a Gopher.

He is an M man. I wish him well.
Serious question, what makes one an M man? You play a game for the Gophers?

Does playing for the Gophers make you one no matter how your tenure ends?

Koi Perich, the figure, is a bigger loss than Koi Perich, the player. He was the face of the program. I have never seen more jerseys of a single player in the 21 years I have had season tickets than I have of Koi Perich. His loss brings much more emotion than Ky Thomas leaving to Kansas. I hope he has a long and happy life but I also wouldn't be heartbroken if his football career continues the trend we saw from his freshman year to his sophomore year.
