All Things 2025/26 College Football Transfer Portal Thread

Has there been any updates on Raiola? Haven't heard anything about him. I wonder if he has to let the dust settle with some of the other QBs first.

Not sure how much NIL $$$ MN has to spend on the portal but they sure seem to have a lot to spend after Koi left? Seems like a lot of depth and even from places such as Tenn, Michigan St, and California. He is grabbing depth and some higher ranked PFF scores like the safety he just picked up.

Here is a good guess from Grok:
Good Guess for 2026 Collective NIL BudgetA reasonable estimate for Dinkytown Athletes' football-specific NIL spending in 2026 is $4–8 million. This reflects:
  • Growth from prior years (~$2.5M in early 2025).
  • Ongoing fundraising success.
  • Need to compete for transfers/recruits (e.g., individual deals reaching 7 figures for stars).
Total player compensation (revenue sharing + NIL) for Gophers football likely falls in the $18–23 million range, aligning with mid-tier Big Ten programs. This is below leaders like Ohio State (~$35M total reported in 2025) but sufficient for retention and solid portal activity, as seen in early 2026.

lol.....Kiffin and LSU being involved is no surprise. Glad Washington is fighting it though. If a player signs a contract there has to be some protection for the school when that player then decides to break that contract.
It'll end up like it did for Wisconsin for corner who went to Miami, Williams will get to LSU one way or another

Doesn’t seem like any of our transfer pickups would have commanded serious NIL dollars.

Not so sure when you get starters from Michigan State and California. They also kept most of there starters happy---so there is that also. Depth was an issue last year as outside of Koi not much left and we already picked up 2 high ranked S out of the portal.

It appears to be due to sheer volume as the have 18 portal additions but none are terribly highly rated.
Thanks. I mean, I think we've been doing great in the portal and so to see them ahead of us....

Kinda like PSU. I doubt many teams would be happy taking the cyclones roster versus what everyone else in the top 10 is doing.

Team rankings on these sites are almost always skewed towards quantity over quality. We also have a number of guys without a transfer rating whereas nearly all of the guys Wisconsin is bringing in have a rating.

I think they use ratings coming out of high school too.

Is there an any more improbable ascension to the top of the CFB mountain than Indiana?

Completely and totally out of nowhere and now they are dominating every single aspect of the game.
It's awesome right now and it shows you it doesn't matter if your team has sucked forever. Give it two or three years, if they keep up this level of success, and I will personally view them like I did New England and KC in the NFL, wishing for their demise every season. Honestly I don't think most people even care who is at the top if it isn't their team but they love the underdog or someone new and that's what Indiana and Ole Miss are bringing currently. That shine wears off when it is Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State, etc every year.
