People need to remember the point of this tweet isn’t that Mn is underrated
It is that others are overrated because they’re just as slightly above average as Mn is
 


They will just claim the competition in the sec is better, so an average team there is superior...even if the record doesn't reflect it.

The general public is becoming wise to the fact that that particular argument is sheer baloney.
 

For 3 of those 5 years Minnesota played in the B1G West and LSU played in the SEC West. Pretty significant difference in having 6 games vs the B1G West & B1G West each season during that time period.
 

If you go by recruiting, LSU has more 4 and 5 star players. LSU has 4 5-star players. MN has zero. LSU has 58 4-star players. MN has 15 4-star players.

That sounds reasonable. How significant, exactly, is the difference? Have you worked out a comparison?

No.
Interesting the implication was Minnesota had more wins because they kept beating up on the same teams over and over again but both teams have beaten 16 power 5 programs the last 5 seasons.

Most common team They beat
LSU got 11/28 wins vs Arkansas/MS State/florida
Minnesota got 11/29 wins vs Wisconsin/MSU/Nebraksa


You could make the argument LSU would win more if they got to play Alabama less.
But you could also argue LSU would win less if they didn’t have 14 non P4 wins vs MN’s 11
(MN was 9-1 regular season and 2-0 in bowls vs non power 5)


I think it’s an interesting conversation:

Bama
Ole Miss with Lane kiffin 2021-2025 was much better than previous Ole Miss teams…but is that because they’re better or LsU slipped or both. I’d argue both.
Auburn sucks
Florida sucks (and was their locked east game)
Miss State sucks
Arkansas sucks
Texas A&M has been good but has fallen apart late in seasons and they always played at the end until recently


LSU played a schedule that had 4 non conference games

Bama-Texas A&M-ole miss - + one random east

Arkansas
Ms state
Florida
Auburn

I think that schedule is weaker than a hard big ten west schedule (getting two of the top 3).
About even if you get the top one (Ohio state or Michigan/penn state in the up year)

Harder if you avoid the top 2 in the east.

LSU, IMO has a schedule that’s easier to go 7-5 against but harder to go 10-2 against.

SEC schedules are tougher for Arkansas and ms state than they are for LSU because they have to play LSU but don’t get to play themselves.

SEC is so good that that even when they lose it is a quality loss!

Until bowl season…. Weird thing how they seem to take so many non quality losses when they have to play other conferences…. 🤨

Yeah people do think of SEC west as running the Auburn-bama-LSU gauntlet

But LSU doesn’t play LsU
And LsU locks in Florida, MS State, Arkansas, and Auburn
And that’s half their conference schedule!

Auburn hasn’t won 7 games in a year since 2019
And all those teams with 7-6 records had 4 non conference games to get to 7 wins

.


By the way the last 5 years of A&M records are
8-4
5-7
7-6
8-5
11-2 - 2025
And A&M is another locked team on the schedule who wasn’t that good in the SEC West days


So 5 of the LSU gauntlet SEC west schedule is:

We also had an extra conference game and didn't get the benefit of scheduling an FCS patsy every November either

Would be interesting to see how it would all shake out if they didn't do pre-season rankings and waited multiple weeks before ranking teams.

Definitely interesting to see our resume and LSU's compared like this where basically everything is the same except for the time spent in the rankings.
