I went with B, but for me that's excellent considering his age, in game (lack of) experience, ball protection, his WR room and the fact we've clearly been shifting to a modern offense and with that their are growing pains as recruiting shifts to a completely different type of player across the board on offense, so it takes time.
So, for me, if he wants an A next year all the things above must improve. Some of those are him personally and others are organizational, but he also needs to process quicker for one. To many times it costs us pre snap, other times it's a split second during the play that costs him from hitting a guy in stride for a big hitter, to an underthrown nothing Burger. A big missed opportunity. This happened a lot. It's also expected for a guy getting his first taste. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't 100% confident he'll have this fixed soon. I think this facet of his game will improve with experience and that should excite everyone as long as........
We land another big WR target.
We protect him by establishing a consistent run game. Just consistent!
He learns to throw it away from time to time, holds it to long quite often.
We stick with the process.
Reshaping a programs identity isn't easy. Look east to the Skunks and you'll be reminded what a turd looks like, a turd that very recently was a pretty delicious meal before some clown from Cincinnati who stunk at OSU somehow got the job and shit the bed. I find myself thinking recently, I should be more grateful for the coach we have. A guy I'd be more than ok sending any of my 5 sons to play for. A guy who quietly realized his archaic offensive philosophy was going to sink his ship no matter how hard he rows, and he swallowed his pride and made the change. We just had maybe the best recruiting class in program history. We were young in all the wrong places this year, and yet, 8 wins. I see quite a bit too be thankful and excited for. Next year should be a good one.
