Very up-and-down season for him in my opinion, but what do we think?

There were at least three wide open tds that he missed. Two to Jalen Smith and not sure the other one up the left sideline. He made the throws when it counted tho.

B. I think Greg and PJ should have set him up for more success with quicker developing passes to get into a rhythm, but outside of the Iowa game and most of the Bowl game he played really well.

B, with a dose of being kind. I think with a better OL he would have been a solid B, with an A in his future.

Jason Tracy. I think Drake will get better next year. Maybe they will let him run a little more, knowing Shikinjanski is a capable back up. Hoping the first couple games, Gophers play well enough to get the Shikanjanski some more game reps.

Give the kid a line that can reliably and predictably run block so we can keep defenses honest. I don't think we've been able to see Drake's true potential yet.

Considering he was a redshirt freshman I was impressed. Voted B. Definitely room for improvement though.

Needs to be more mobile - in today’s game that position needs to be dual threat player but having said that I like the kid

We are on our way with Drake. He’s only going to get better every time he plays.

I think he's probably not too far from his best right now. Will he be a faster runner? Probably not. We can probably expect his arm strength and accuracy to improve a little. 1-1.5 seconds longer of pass protection with his game manship will be the key to the impression of significant athletic advancement. What will appear to be an improvement will be the cast of characters around him, which should be better next year.

When he plays care free and open he does well.

When he plays afraid to make a mistake or take a chance he struggles.

B- specifically, showed some real promise but a lot to clean up, which is certainly possible! Needs to work on progressions, misses a lot of open men deep if they aren't the first read.

As a sophomore yes. This year AK was across the board better than Drake in every measureable. But I’d take Drake over him 8 days a week.
Easy when you have 6’6” and 6’3” receiver to throw to and 1200 yard back. Athan didn’t come up during crunch time at all.

Athan 20 td 7 picks. 4 rushing tds. 12 games
Drake 18 td 6 picks. 4 rushing tds. 12 1/4 games.

Athan played three joke teams in non conference to pad stats. Still didn’t make a bowl game. Drake out performed him head to head.

In your opinion he did. And I repeat I would take Drake over him in a heartbeat.

Does not change the fact AK had better stats this year, that’s all I was saying.

The mental game is the most important. If he continues to improve his ability to process and find receivers at the correct times in his progressions against better teams he'll be a stud. He missed on a few routes today and threw some absolute oinkers into coverage in the first half

What better stats?

Conference games.
Athan 13 td passes 7 ints
Drake 14 td passes 4 ints

A lot of Athens stats were playing against weak non conference opponents or throwing 50 times against Washington when they are down a lot. Both had negative rushing yards.

Am curious if Drake will make a practice squad though.
