Did Koi's mom dump you in high school? Is this an official release from the Koi Perich fanboy club?

I doubt PJ goes that transfer heavy again, vunless they do something significantly different in their evaluations. Too many guys who either didn't live up to expectations or didn't play at all. There were 22 this year. Granted a few never played or bolted before the season.
Yes, membership seems to include B1G coaches as well.Is this an official release from the Koi Perich fanboy club?
I think this, in part, is why there was such a large incoming class; it may not necessitate the need for leaning so heavily on the portal.I doubt PJ goes that transfer heavy again, vunless they do something significantly different in their evaluations. They will likely need to go to the portal again for OL & DL as there were just too many misses in the 21-23 HS classes.I think this, in part, is why there was such a large incoming class; it may not necessitate the need for leaning so heavily on the portal.

Agree--more traps and I-formations, too. Give defenses more to think about, please. But when you recruit OL for height and length, you don't necessarily get guys who are fleet of foot for pulling and traps. Or who excel at leverage. It's like we recruit OL primarily for the Tackle position and then just sprinkle them into IOL positions.I’d like to see some scheme change on OL. Wouldn’t mind some more pulling and misdirection in running game.
Going forward it may be wise to have smaller, more impactful transfer classes.Agree + a CB
Nah, but I did dump yours.Did Koi's mom dump you in high school?
Never said he sucked just overated, plus post season honors don't mean shit the games played on the field not in sporting publications. Look it's an opinion based assessment of his play if people dont like it they can provide something other than memes and grade school insults to counter the argumentYeah, sucks so bad he only made 2nd team All Big Ten.

It just depends on who leaves and how much depth they have at each position. I don’t think it’s possible to go in thinking you want to add a certain number of transfers, it’s more a case of how many do you need to add to field the best possible team next year after you see who all is leaving.I doubt PJ goes that transfer heavy again, vunless they do something significantly different in their evaluations. Too many guys who either didn't live up to expectations or didn't play at all.
The problem is you can’t rely on guys sticking around from the high school ranks so you constantly have to ensure you have a good depth chart for the upcoming year.Going forward it may be wise to have smaller, more impactful transfer classes.
Rather than taking 3 WRs, take 1 that is more likely to be a significant contributor, identify positions by value on each side of the ball and only pay transfers at the most valuable positions, etc.
Initially, they will rely more heavily on recent HS recruits for depth but that should help in the long run.
Correct, so you have to adjust on a year by year basis. The problem is you can’t rely on guys sticking around from the high school ranks so you constantly have to ensure you have a good depth chart for the upcoming year.
Well stated!Koi's not above criticism, there were some bad run fits and some missed tackles this year. But the reason they stick out is the overall decline of the defense, something I believe he helped minimize. Jack Henderson was a bigger loss than I think a lot of people admit and his role was filled by committee this year. I think Koi did ok in that role, but he and Kerry Brown are both better suited playing deeper. I think Koi's versatility *should* help the defense create confusion, but the CBs just didn't hold up in coverage and the D-Line was not good against the run.
The decrease in interceptions was to be expected both because he had an unsustainable number of picks per snap last year and because Koi was playing the hybrid secondary role pretty frequently. Add to all of this the aforementioned CB issues and there were fewer opportunities when he was playing as a deep safety.
However, he was still the third leading tackler on the team, and his All B1G recognition came from both the media (2nd) and coaches (3rd). He is a very good player with the capacity to be great and would be in demand by helmet school programs if he wanted to leave. The Gophers would have been a demonstrably worse team without him, and probably would have missed a bowl game. It's difficult to understand how that makes him overrated.

You kind of have to take the number you need to replace and for depth purposes. For every guy that leaves you need to bring someone in. They have holes to fill.I doubt PJ goes that transfer heavy again, vunless they do something significantly different in their evaluations. Too many guys who either didn't live up to expectations or didn't play at all.
Fix the mess on the OL, and a lot of the other problems disappear (or at least minimized). The O line played it's best game against Nebraska. Nebraska were overrated, but their D was statistically the best team we beat in conference. The only other defenses that gave up more points per game were Maryland, Michigan St, Rutgers, Purdue and UCLA. They have a combined B1G record of 7-38.
The offense was bad but they had a FR QB, new OL, mostly new WRs, and were missing their star RB for most of the season. I think that had far more to do with their struggles than coaching.
The defense returned enough talent and experience to be far better than they were. They were always out of position and tackled poorly as a result, which is far more of a coaching issue.
