Gophers 2025 Movement Roster Thread - Transfers, Bowl Opt-Outs, Etc.

You are correct. Remaining eligibility entering 2025 was 4 years, not sure why the website doesn't say 5 for all freshmen.
A player is never eligible for five years. They have 5 years to play four years and four games. You can play four games without burning a redshirt. You never have five years of eligibility.

Completely understand that, It's his 1st year at MN and has 4 years left, next roster he will still have 4 years left. Why not say they have 5 years and next roster say 4, and if they play switch it to 3.

Right now a freshmen that played has the same eligibility as a redshirt according to the roster, but that isn't true.

Can never have too many RBs. I was excited about Turner and hope he can stay healthy. MN is going to have a crowded and talented RB room IMO — but it won’t matter if a) they don’t stay healthy and b) the OL doesn’t improve greatly.

yes, but they don't seem to be counting junior college (at least one year) now. It seems to be treated like a prep school year (which isn't so unfair I guess). Rigsby got an extra year this season because of that.

In everyone else's defense, I think I am also the only one really complaining about the WCO. So I think most people are being pretty consistent.
Think we said this a couple years ago but PJ has to scheme to the players he gets.

I remember Koi said something or another at the start of the season about how he wants the team to contend for the playoff this season or he may think about looking elsewhere. Hopefully he sees potential in 2026 and sticks around for one more.
Koi is overrated, he can't tackle and is out of position a lot. He's not even the best safety on the team at this point.

I agree with all of this but still think he is pretty good
Yeah hes not horrible and he has made some nice plays but he definitely hasn't met the hype that preceded him. If he would have went to Ohio St. he would have been a special teamer and that's it.

Or if he had gone to Ohio state he would’ve learned faster because he would’ve figured out he had to to get on the field

Have you seen Caleb Downs and Jaylen McClain play? If he hasn't learned how to tackle by his 2nd year in college im not sure when he's going to. Being out of position could be attributed to coaching but to be honest he just looks lost out there at times.

I just think he’s going to try to make big plays out of habit because he could do that in high school and get away with it.
And when he does that he gets himself out of position at times

The tackling is another issue. But I think being out of position hurt the team more than missed tackles this year

he missed 6 tackles his entire freshman year. He was drastically worse this year, but agree with @Some guy that much of this is due to him getting out of position or being overaggressive/trying to make highlight at times rather than breaking down and doing the simple things

Yeah that makes sense and I agree 100% on the being out of position hurt the team more.

Agreed, but I think Collins can't have another year like this one. Some of the issues I wouldn't put on him and I don't think you hire someone like him and pull the plug after a year unless it's catastrophic. He needs to address the cornerback and interior dline issues. The DB have to be able to play zone for his scheme to fully work. If he can't teach that than the plug needs to be pulled now but if he can than he needs to get the right personal in here. Danny did a great job as the safeties coach, Fleck let him take the next step and now he needs to show he can do it
First we walk, then we run
