POST GAME THREAD!!! Gophers Beat Badgers for 4th Time in 5 Years!!!

Offense took care of the ball and did enough....D played great.....Punter had a great game.

John Nestor played the game of his life on D.....easy Defensive Player of the Week award coming after that performance.
Agreed, complete game.

Turnovers and defense were the story of the day. Wisconsin’s resurrection story has been delayed. Couldn’t happen to nicer people. Two interceptions and a fumble lost isn’t going to get the job done. Great splash plays by Baranowski and Nestor come to mind but they all looked so much better today..

The MN offense wasn’t lighting up the scoreboard with only 218 yards of total offense but did just enough to get the W. Nice to see Darius running strong again. He probably made himself a little money today. Geers’ catch was phenomenal.

Looked like a festive atmosphere all game.

Besides, a bowl game in Detroit would be risking my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was insanely bad like he had given up.
The lack of any sense of urgency when down 2 scores in the 4th quarter was baffling. They wasted a ton of time gaining very few yards at a time when you would at least think they would have been trying to move pretty quickly.

The students set the tone today. They stayed and supported the team from beginning to end. Great effort from the rest of us Gopher supporters as well. Crazy fun weather and wonderful interactions with Badger faithful.

It appeared Fleck and Fickel didn’t shake hands afterward. In fact they didn’t even head towards midfield. Looks like Fleck just waived from the sideline after the game. Then put his arms up in victory. 😁
I was surprised watching PJF wave behind our bench n didn’t seem to be looking towards the opposition bench for Fickel.

They either missed it or it didn’t happen. However with the incident a few years ago, the schools have made it pretty clear the losers get the heck out of there.

Such a fun day
A+ turnout by students
Was the first Axe win for my youngest 2 boys
I will never get bored of beating Wisconsin
It was my youngest's first Axe game, he's not too into football but the environment was great and he loved the snow. This was my second favorite live Axe game behind 2021 when I rushed the field with my eldest

Pretty sure I saw coach Fickell and coach Fleck have a quick handshake at mid field after game ended and after the Gopher players had already sprinted over to the Axe. Seemed like a sign of sportsmanship.
Yes they did shake hands and had a few words. Looked cordial.

Fleck is too classy to not shake hands.

It doesn’t have to be an extended conversation, just a handshake and a “good game coach”.

Wonderful interactions? I let the red trash around me have it. The expletives were flying. It was great.

Minnesota played near error free, pretty impressive to me.
In weather like yesterday's, you expect turnovers. The WI O turned it over 3 times; Gophers O didn't turn it over even once. That is an unappreciated side of young Drake's game, I think. He doesn't deliver many stupid passes. He doesn't set the team back, as some QBs of his age and experience do. And he's faced defenses all year that were expecting the pass, because of how unimpressive our run game has been. I'm looking forward to an offense with a better run game (OL!) next year, one that puts more pressure on safeties to come up ... and that gives Drake more realistic opportunities to take deeper shots.

That drive that started with about 7 minutes left was baffling (your word, and it was the perfect word). I bet if you looked at one of those in game win probability models, our chance of winning was increasing even as they were getting first downs. But even before that, in a game where quick strikes were not going to come easily, Wisconsin was still using 20 to 30 seconds off the play clock when the game clock was running. I don't get what Fickell was thinking pretty much the whole fourth quarter.

He was thinking I’m on a train that’s about to explode I better not drive too fast
