Max

It’s been a perfect storm for JJ. He hurts his knee and it ends up requiring a second surgery and he has to rehab it forever and then kind of inexplicably on an already lean frame loses 30 pounds. Coincidentally when he signs the big contract, his long-term girlfriend decides to be a baby mama and in week two at age 22, he has a kid. Then he gets beat to hell because OL was so bad/injured and gets hurt again and misses five weeks it’s just been one thing after another. Add in the fact that his head coach lost his Mojo from a play calling perspective last year in the Detroit game and hasn’t gotten it back and generally refuses to stick to running the ball, and I feel bad for the kid. That said, bring on Max. I think he will be a calming influence. He may have some jitters in his first game like he did in his first game for us, but the guy is smart as a whip and he’s got some skills he could be really successful hard to say.

Hard to say with McCarthy. Hoping he can succeed, but when you get worse as the games go by, that points to mental stuff more than anything.
It's too bad, he looks the part, but man I've rarely ever see a guy in the NFL miss his receivers and hold the ball like JJ has done so far, he looks like a high school quarterback out there

Sounds like McCarthy might be able to start. Ugh.
Honestly....a road start against Seattle with a banged up offensive line in front of you is not the ideal situation for a first start.

That said, even if JJ does play, there is a good chance he won't make it through the entire game so Max will need to be ready regardless.

I think they will go with the "abundance of caution" excuse and start Max. This is the new Trey Lance, Brock Purdy.

I should add, its not an excuse its a reason.

If Wentz's injury had not ended his season, it would be Wentz going back in (if indeed McCarthy doesn't start).

Brosmer is still defacto a 3rd string QB. He's just "backup" (in name only), in case McCarthy actually gets hurt in a game and can't keep going.

(Which is a bit weird, as he kept going just fine in both games where he got "hurt")

Wentz did have a season ending injury, so your point is moot.

Probably ... but we do have John Wolford.

And Darrison and Jackson didn't practice yesterday. If they're both out ... Brosmer is going to take some very big hits with awful Skule at LT. Brandel is fine at LG and should still be the starting C (Kelly should be forced to retire)

That's literally what I just clarified. You said it. I responded to it.

Either clarify your point, or this exchange is done. Happy Thanksgiving!
It's really obvious, Max is the current backup to JJ. You seem to think that is still in question?

I think anytime an undrafted rookie QB makes the roster, there's always people like me rooting for him to get a chance to show he belongs. The fact he's from the U only amplifies that.
BTW, there's been a couple of undrafted quarterbacks have had a good amount of success. Tony Romo, Kurt Warner come to mind.
