- his knee is not 100%
- don’t know much about our rivary
- thinks he’ll be able to avoid sacks

Since the Jacks are sort of my adopted FCS team due to my daughter, I have seen him play a few times over the years. He's a gritty guy but cannot be trusted to beat you with his arm. I view him as a quicker Mitch Leidner. Stack the box, leave a spy and let him take his chances. They might convert a few but he could easily overshoot a wide open receiver as well.

I also watched him quite a bit at SDSU and the quicker Leidner comparison is good. I think Mitch was a little better passer though.

It will be a challenge. As someone else posted, assign a spy to him. All game, all the itme.

A coupl've my freinds down here whoa re usually uber-confident in the Hawkeys have expressed reservations about the game this year. Mostly due to the nine sacks against Nebraska.

Gronowski has as many rushing attempts as their top RB with 67. That is a lot of hits for a QB to take in a conference like the Big Ten and if he goes down they are in a lot of trouble.

I haven't watched any Iowa football this year. Does he do a ton of designed runs or is it a lot of scrambling?

Haven't seen a ton of their games either but I think a majority of his carries are designed runs. They are very one dimensional on offense, especially in Big Ten games.

Emmanuel Karmo the spy?

Quick enough?

lol. Unless you haven’t seen Gronowski—then yes—Karmo plenty fast and quick.

Gronowski isn’t an efficient runner. He’s just a terrible passer. Outside of a 67 yard run against PSU his longest in big play was 11. And his long against IU and Illinois were 5 and 3, respectively.

To answer your question, I've seen ZERO film/ tape of Gronowski. I'm not even sure if he came from the University of South Dakota or SDSU.

FWIW, Gronowski also had a 38-yard run against PSU, in addition to his 67-yard run. He also has 7 rushing TDs in conference play.

He ran well against one team. He averages 2.79 yards per carry this season outside of the PSU game

That actually not so bad for a QB because the sack yards are deducted from the total rushing yards. For example, Drake has -34 rushing yards on the season for an average of -2.3 yards per carry.

Drake doesn’t have designed runs. 8-10 times a game.

Gronowski has been sacked 9 times for -50 yards. So without the Penn State game and the sacks he has run 49 times for 209 yards. Which is 4.25 yards per carry. I can get yards per carry in the conference but I don’t really want to.

I hope the game plan is to run him a ton. I really do.

Gronowski needs to meet Kingsbury straight up a few times …

My guess is the Hawkeyes will try and roll Gronowski away from pressure and try and set up quick throws off play action. We already know they will play the field possession game, and try and choke you out by making the offense go a long ways to score. Gronowski and the tailback Moulton sp... are really good at breaking tackles and strong, so it is imperative that team defense and group tackling put them on the ground when they get the chance. It goes without saying that we cannot kick the ball to Wetjen. I would be willing to bet the Hawkeyes will not only fake the motion with Wetjen they most assuredly will try and hand him the ball on jet sweeps, quick pitches like a shovel pass on a cross or inside zone run. They will use that jet motion a bunch this weekend I bet.
