The ones on our side of 211 were actually okay but both me and Mrs. Billd had any number of them turning around and giving us the eye as we vocalized our support for our lads. They did travel well this time.

I thought for sure I was going to have to swap seats w8th my 13 year old. Guy let out a string of F-bombs at Fleck during introductions. Turns out he was in the wrong seat and moved 5 more down...far enough to make him someone else's problem.

Gophers don't control their destiny, but if they somehow manage to pull an upset against Oregon and win out, only takes a few other games going a particular way, the hardest being Indiana dropping 1 (if they lose to a common opponent of the Gophers) or 2 games), for the gophers to find themselves in a rematch against OSU.

Is it likely? No, but it's fun to think about.

Purdue is really fast and they had great escapes by their Quarterbacks. Gophers fought hard that game and prevailed. Tonight was fun not having to listen to go Big Red after first quarter. Gophers play tough, the cardiac kids were the more prepared domiant team. Raiola should not have taunted the Gopher student section, it's bad luck. Our coaches worked hard and Gophers were the much more prepared team. Looking forward to the Fight for Floyd.

A rematch against Ohio State is NOT fun to think about. Lol
 

I had picked NE 30-27. Boy was I pleasantly wrong.

What a fun atmosphere. Crazy how things have changed in one week. Loved the offensive balance.

No secret sauce to this. Win up front and you give yourself a chance to win the game. Both OL & DL were terrific.

He must have heard you. And he probably heard the drunk(?) Huskers fan screaming behind me for the first half before disappearing.

I'm chalking it up to the field security crew practically challenging the student section to do it.
 








I attended tonight's game with my family. We don't get to very many Gophers sporting events, but the last 3 have been real doozies....last years USC football game, men's basketball takedown of #15 Oregon, and now tonight's Nebraska football game. All 3 were big Gopher wins followed by field/court storming. Good times.

A whole lot of them had a different edge tonight. Unusual cockiness that they usually shelve when on the road, a lot of bad drunks.

Absolute iowa vibes.

You and your family need to go to more Gopher games. Our fan base has struggled long enough, it's the least you can do for us!

Nebraska had scored:

27 vs Michigan

The play by Kingsbury on the blitz blowing up the back and then dropping Raiola was an AWESOME play. Looked like Urlacher in his prime decided to throw on some college pads. Destructive.

It felt like our defense was on some combination of speed pills and steroids tonight. Just curious why...or how??

Scheme is one thing....but the passion and aggressiveness they played with tonight.....damn impressive.

Also loved the Kingsbury blitz/sack. He absolutely blew Johnson up.
 


Malachi Coleman looked explosive on his sole big key reception earlier in the game. Has he been injured? The Gophs could some explosiveness at WR. I'm guessing Smith might be dinged up, too.

Gotta get outside quickly against Iowa. The one quick pitch play the Gophers ran last night was a key element of the offensive game plan against, I believe, Iowa many moons ago. Kept them guessing; made them think. If we have some variety in the run game run (power I versus shotgun; inside the tackles versus quick outside pitches) Iowa would have more things to think about. I suspect we're not going to be able to overpower the Iowa DL and LBs; got to outthink them.

Yeah, that quick pitch in 3rd and short (I think) was a nice call after running power off right tackle multiple times before.
 

I wish I understood the situation was with Malchi Coleman. He had one target last night, a very respectable catch and run. He's long and fast. At 6'5" he's got to be a match up nightmare against some CBs. I believe his presence on the field--small sample set, admittedly--has got to be a stressor for the defense. Hard to believe he isn't a net positive on the field, at least in a creative offense with plays called to match his skill set. Maybe he isn't a net positive in practice or in the classroom? It feels like we are squandering a chance to give Drake another big, athletic target. And every additional, realistic target we give Drake has the potential to improve our run game. Go Gophers!

Gophers generally don't do "change of pace" much in their run game. Not much variety. In baseball, a pitcher with a 100mph fastball can throw that pitch 80% of the time--even though the hitters are waiting on it. He simply overpowers the hitters. A pitcher with a 90mph fastball can't overpower batters who are waiting on the pitch, but he can be very effective if he has a good change-up, slider, and curve and mixes things up well. Batters can't waiti on a virtually-certain pitch.

I think PJ would love to throw 80% fastballs on his running plays, trying to simply overpower the batter. Tressel Ball. But the B1G is a really tough league with great defenses. The Gophers have a good 90mph fastball, but they don't have the 100mph killer. The Gopher run game, with this year's OL (built for pass blocking), would maximize its effect, I believe, by calling on the change-up, slider and curve a little more often. As it did last night. We caught Nebraska waiting on the wrong pitch more than once.
