Post Game Thread: Buckeyes Comeback on Gophers Keeps Undefeated Season Alive

Ohio State is the real deal and probably in the driver's seat to win the National Title this year. Nobody has been able to score 10 points on them through 5 games....that is insane.

Great experience for Drake playing in a really tough road environment. Seems like we escaped without any major injuries.

Needed everything to break our way to have any shot of winning this one and Ohio State never gave us the opening we needed.

Talent gonna talent.

On to Purdue, which now could be a trap game if they don't let this one go.

PJ has us right in our sweet spot. Decent win every other season but generally mid pack - sometimes we beat Rutgers and Illinois. He’s doing fantastic.

Burn film. Onto the next
Yep, will offer the DVD replay to Mrs. Billd but will not watch it myself again.

Now the team should be on a continuous loop learning from this a la A Clockwork Orange style "education"...

Well, maybe not. Simple film study will do...

PJ is who he is— game day PJ is kinda a pussy. Our coordinators get beaten to pulps by real and experienced coordinators. We don’t coordinate to our talent level.

Eastern and Smith disappeared they allegedly could compete with these guys. No pass rush and these receivers are going to gash you. Very disappointed in those two. 4 probably isn’t a B10 player at least right now. Our corner play really has bottomed out, too.

Schemes and blocking on running plays need a lot of work.

Taylor can move on.

QB is good the young hard charging RB is good we will win more than we lose, go to a shitty bowl and PJ will get another year or two on his contract. He’d be a great GM of a program does a lot of great thing but for actually prepping for and coaching on game day.

They could have dropped 70 on us.

Well this morning I had OSU dropping 56 on us, so we did better than I expected there 🤣. But, I will say with how the game played out and or very limited running game I thought Drake did pretty well.

No interceptions, had a drop or two and some missed PI’s, and he extended some plays a bit when pressure got through. He didn’t look frantic imo, OSU just didn’t give us much to work with after the first drive.

Forgot one thing. We tackle like shit. Gotta practice that hard change your best PJ.

This legitimately made me laugh.

It is something I could totally see PJ doing, too.

Gets up in front of a team with a bunch of old film stuffed into a barrel, lighter on hand. Drops it down, bursts up into flames.

The shadow of the flames flicker on his shining bald head. Just stands there staring at everyone, not saying a word.

A lot of things to work on, but overcoming a bad passing D is at the top of the list. Correcting a bad running game is right up there.

I am beginning to wonder about the DC...

He's earned the spot the old fashioned way up through the system...literally...

I need more data but trend line is suspect. Which of course could be upended over the next several games.
It really sucks because he's obviously a hard worker and a great guy.

But it has reeked of a classic PJ nepo hire from day one, for me. Hope I'm dead wrong.

EDIT: I'm talking about the promotion to DC, not being a coach

Hey, on that first OSU drive of the 2nd half where we stopped them twice .... both those 3rd down stops were Danny Collins specials: 3 man rush. And it worked both times!

Agreed.

I suppose it could be an overreaction coming off a whoopin from #1, but the trend hasn't been good these past few weeks.
