BTN: The LOUDEST B1G Football road venue? 🔊 Our coaches know best. 🗣️

Penn state for a white out game is on a different level! Nebraska, Iowa, and Wisconsin all get honorable mentions from me.

Of the schools I've been to, Penn State was probably the loudest. Ohio State at night was a close second.

Northwestern and the Big House a tie for quietest, but the game I saw at the Big House was over early.

In 97' it was loud for half of a quarter.

Three games at TCF/ Huntington including PSU 2019 could be included at that level. Nate Triplett's pick 6 was one of the loudest times I recall.

Was this the 58-0 game in 2011? I too was there and even before the game was out of hand the volume/atmosphere did not match the 100K+ fans in attendance.

I was at the Big House in 2021 when Michigan ended their losing streak to OSU. It was insanely loud, but there was a lot of built up anger coming out from UM fans so I think that was an anomaly.

A friend of mine (PSU fan) was at the game in Happy Valley in 1999.
He said that after the field goal went through he'd never heard such a silence from 100k people.

One of the coolest things I have ever experienced in person....100K dead quiet/shocked while a small pocket of Gopher fans was going crazy.

In terms of loudest stadiums I have been to in the Big Ten - PSU and OSU were easily the loudest. Iowa was intimidating with tight confines. Michigan has potential to be crazy loud but fans are very passive until they have a reason to get loud so it is weird environment. And as much as I hate to say it Madison was one of the best gameday atmospheres in the conference of the places I have been to (haven't been to USC, Oregon, Washington, UCLA or Nebraska).

The shallow open bowl of the Big House doesn’t contain the sound as well. OSU and PSU seem to be the most conducive structures to contain the sound, on top of their high capacities.

The pop from the Triplett play is indelibly imprinted in my memory. The atmosphere that night was unreal.

I'm bummed I didn't get to see the PSU game in person. Never in my life had I imagined the sports media having to both talk positively about the Gophers as well as seeing them as a legitimate piece in the CFP conversation before the wheels fell off. 2019 was so satisfying after the decades of being an also ran, I don't care about how the regular season ended. That Auburn dub was icing on the cake.

The stadium absolutely shook during and after that play. The other time I remember was the PSU game. Bateman's first TD and Jordan Howden's game clinching pick stand out most. I think 90% of us stood the whole game. Nobody complained.

There were a couple moments in the big 2019 win vs Penn State that equaled the Triplett interception in volume, in my opinion.

The Howden interception in the end zone as well as the Bateman TD catch on the first drive reached that level. I get a little misty-eyed just typing these words.

My, how times have changed...
I'm pretty lucky. The fans that sit behind me never complain. Three generations of Gopher fans. It's awesome just to know that they are so dedicated. I always ask if it's okay to stand during key moments though. Love that I am mostly surrounded by die-hard Gopher fans.
