All Things 2025 Minnesota Vikings In-Season Thread

KAM and the current group could draft better, like most front offices, but they continue to do very, very well with UDFA's and even late round picks. Gotta give them props for that.

** ^^ I'm sure you meant 2025 season

As Lewis is quick to point out, none of these making the initial 53-man roster is set in stone, there will still probably be a lot of moves happening in the next few days.

Will blame that on the auto thing as it put 2024 automaticly on here.

Robert Woods was released by Pittsburg. Any interested in him as he would be compensation free and just need money.

Again, makes no sense to me why you wouldn't go with a guy like that from the git go, if that's the direction you wanted to go.

Someone screwed up the Howell hire. They aren't going to admit it and no one is going to get fired over it.

WTF? Trading Howell (and getting value for him) away is the very definition of admitting it didn't work out. And I would argue they are infinitely better off now, with Wentz and Brosmer, than they were with Howell and Rypien.

No harm, no foul. The real mistake would be to suit up a QB that they don't the think would be productive now and minimal to no chance of improvement.

It probably was more than just "someone" but a collection of decision makers.

Maybe the mistake was they didn't realize what they had with Brosmer in terms of a development option, so they pivoted based on more information, to a more veteran commodity.

No need to sort it out. Vikings move on with 2 weeks to coach Wentz up into the Vikings system if pressed into service.

That's plenty of time.

Agree with both your points.

The "they" I was referring to was not the Vikings in general.

It is? Seems arbitrary. Why even have camp, then and risk player injury?

Anyway, you're right, there's no point in arguing more about it. A mistake was made. I personally felt it was the wrong move from the beginning, but someone or someones as you suggest thought otherwise and they tried it. Onward now with the new path

Trading away Blackmon is yet another indictment of how bad KAM has been with first two day draft picks. Particularly when we are so thin at CB.

Way more manageable trade. The reports that Carolina wanted a 3rd rounder was a total joke. Flipping a 4th and a 5th for their 5th and 7th (ultimately a 4th rounder for Theilen and a 7th) is probably still more than he's worth due to his age.....but not a terrible deal by any means. He'll help this team.

I don't love giving up the 4th for him at all, but so be it. A JJ-Addison-Thielen trio with Hockenson at TE could be pretty lethal when Addison is back though. JJM couldn't ask for a much better situation to step into.

if they win at least 2 of the first 3, if not all 3, it's worth it probably (if Thielen plays any role at all). This is a roster built to compete. Thielen can add a real veteran safety valve for JJM this season and it appears they already have some chemistry. The first 3 games are very winnable games, and a good start to the season for JJM is important.

I would have been happy for anyone that improved the roster so I'm fine with this

Theilen will be great for our first year qb.

A veteran and safety valve.

When Addison gets back, you've got Hockensen and Theilen as safety valves.

Since it's a pick swap, I don't think it's that's big of a price for draft ammo.

At the risk of projecting too far down the road, at least based on recent performance, the difference between where those Vikings picks in each round fall and where the Carolina picks fall is something to consider. At the very least, it's not likely to be 25-30 spots

FWIW - my comment that he is a “logical and is a good fit” acquisition is based on him having spent time playing in KOC’s offense, which seemingly to me, would allow him to hit the ground running faster than a wideout who hasn’t.

Negotiating, where the real fun begins in business🤠

Always ask for more in any deal than what you’re willing to accept, sometimes you get it and it gives you negotiating room till you get to what the minimum is that you’re willing to accept.

Nice work! Taimani must have snuck through waivers. Really glad the Vikings were able to keep him in the organization, I would think he'll provide some valuable depth at some point, no doubt.

And for those of us who were so disappointed they waived Gabe Murphy, he made it through waivers and will also be on the practice squad!

AND they managed to keep Zemaiah Vaugh, who was VERY close to making the 53-man roster. Another good move!

I'm stunned that Murphy and Taimani weren't signed to active rosters by other teams.

Calculated risk by KAM and company to expose them to waivers and keep Chambliss on the original 53-man. Chambliss is largely going to be a special teams player? They must know what they're doing, I don't know that they exposed anyone that they wanted to keep that got snapped up by someone else.
