Quincy Avery: Drake Lindsey is so much better than anyone understands. I truly and honestly believe he's gonna be a Rd1 pick when it's all said & done

Drake Lindsey is going to be very good.
He will be the first Gopher QB drafted since the 1960's.

It's not a question of if he'll get drafted, it's a question of if he'll leave early and be a first round QB.

This is the best QB PJ's ever had (Now, not in 3 years).
Some thought he maybe should have won the job last year.

Our WR's will be very good.
I don't know how you look at Brockington and Loya and think this room doesn't have much experience in the Big Ten.

Loya ate Iowa alive last year. He has more WR experience beating Iowa than any group we've had.

When another Big Ten WR in Malachi Coleman is your #5 or #6 guy, we have a solid room that doesn't need to be questions. It's borderline embarrassing reading how afraid of success we are when it comes to having a potent offense for once.

Last year we were 134th out of 134 teams in explosive plays. (Plays of 30 yards from scrimmage or more). We have been under every year since Fleck arrived (2019 was right at the median).

Why?

QB play.

We have not had a QB this good and Drake will show other QB's we are a QB development program and QB's will want to come here.

Fans, we need to change our best.
We have guys like Bradley Martino who would have been fighting for a starting job in 2018-2019 who will have no shot of seeing the field this year.

The WR room is that much better than it's ever been here.

I don’t t feel I do at all. I like PJ and what he’s doing a lot. IMO I’m just a bit more realistic on what to expect from players, and maybe not as highly optimistic as some. Does not mean at all that I don’t want Drake to be great.

I was really high on AK and not as high on Brosmer, so it’s a very fair take that my opinions can be wrong…

My only point in the thread was just stating facts about his recruiting offers and if a guy offered where he was became a #1 draft pick and potentially the best gopher QB ever that it would be an anomaly.
Fair enough. Overreaction on my part. I apologize.

That’s an awfully impressive statement from a respected individual. Gotta love seeing it.
All take all non dink praise for gophers!

Having said that, if there's anyone who can reliably scout out good QBs better than most people ... they're sitting on a skill worth a shit ton.

what flavor is this koolaid? I love it!

I went through the NCAA '26 ratings and only 4 schools have a QB1 rated lower than Drake Lindsey (72). Air Force (triple option), Rice, UL Monroe, and Western Michigan...and all of them have a 71. This includes all the G5 and several recently FCS schools. Even 0-12 Kent State's freshman QB gets a 73.

Zach Pyron gets a 76 for South Alabama, and he transferred immediately rather than compete with Lindsey.

Kaliakmanis is an 80.

In that case, this was outright laziness by EA. But, what's new?

If there ever was a reason to believe the people behind the ratings have very little clue, this should seal the deal.

That’s pretty high praise!

Watch out for the haters coming after you hard. Must be good kook aid your sipping.

Remember when we rolled out Johnson, Bateman and CAB? It’s pretty damn hard to beat that group.

However, I hope you are right!

None. Usually an incoming freshman QB nobody's seen gets some benefit of the doubt and gets ranked around his team's overall ranking. Kind of like when the Gophers get a verbal from a guy the services haven't rated he usually gets a default 3* because the Gophers wanted him.

Not here. The QB1 from a consistently winning Big Ten football team that's had some good college QBs over the past few years is assumed to be the bottom of the barrel. Purdue's backup is rated higher.
