Preseason AP POLL Out. Gophers = No Votes

:horse::horse::horse:

Unfortunately it sets the narrative for the whole season of rankings and bias.

You would think that you would be used to this by now. I would rather be like Minnesota than like Nebraska or Maryland, teams who are ranked prematurely some years but fail miserably to reach that status. At least on those rare occasions where we are ranked, we earned it by our play to that point in the season.

There is no really good reason to rank Minnesota right now. They haven't been a strong offensive team since 2019, they are starting the season with a RS freshman QB, lost some critical linemen, and lost their top two receivers from last season. In short, they are a classic "let's wait and see" team. As I mentioned, they did get 11 votes on the Coaches Poll.

New QB, lots of question marks. I can't say the Gophers should get a vote.

Some other dubious votes too, but Gophers ... if they got one I'd wonder about the voter.

Agreed. It's a meaningless poll. That said at this point it's better to be underrated than overrated
